How can I help you?
Welcome to Nicola Jenkinson Counselling. If you are here, looking for someone who can help you, then you're in the right place.
Life at times is great and at other times it can be challenging and feel like a struggle. This is when counselling can help.
I can help you to face difficulties and uncertainties, to see your own unique qualities and will work with you, helping you to find your own way forward.
I do appreciate how difficult it can be to choose the right person to support you. So if you would like more information, I can offer you an initial 30 minute telephone consultation at no cost, simply email or phone to arrange an appointment.
What I can help with ?
I have considerable experience in both private and public sector working, with significant experience in stress (both work related and non work related), anxiety and depression. I am able to support those who have suffered abuse or trauma at any stage in life and am experienced in working with long-term physical and mental ill health, personal relationships and behaviours which people find unhelpful for themselves and those around them. I support clients to understand themselves, their experiences and the impacts life has had on them. Such work has helped clients come to different ways of living in and experiencing the world.
I have a particular affinity for supporting clients who may be experiencing difficulties (both personally and in relationships) associated with transvestism and my sensitive approach ensures an environment where you will feel safe to discuss whatever is causing you difficulty.
If there is an aspect of life you want to change or just want to understand better, I can help you find your unique way forward.
If you have experienced trauma in life and this continues to impact on you, I am fully trained to help you providing an approach which can give 'closure without disclosure'. Helping you recover from intrusive thoughts, memories and flashbacks and allowing you to move on in life.
I am a fully qualified Counsellor with a Masters Degree in Psychotherapy and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP) and work to high professional standards within the BACP Ethical Framework (http://www.bacp.co.uk). My work is fully insured and I am fully compliant with GDPR requirements.
How will I work with you?
My practice will give you a bespoke and personalised approach. I will offer you a safe, confidential space where you will feel able to share and explore whatever is causing you difficulty.
Working with openness, honesty and integrity, with careful and attentive listening, I will be guided by you and work with you to help you find your own way forward.
The Garden Room
A relaxing space to talk. My adaptable counselling room, surrounded by private garden, offers a relaxing space for you. It can be open to see the garden or made very private, however you would like it to be.
What have my clients said about working with me?
"Thank-you for your patience, insight and understanding of my complex problems"
"I've looked forward to our weekly sessions from the minute I've walked out of the last one"
"Nicola has been outstanding"
"Thank-you so much... I feel like I have my life in perspective again"
"Thank-you for your patience and understanding which have helped me out of my despair"
The ways I can help
In working with you I will build a strong, non-judgemental relationship. I will support you to explore your thoughts and feelings in ways that suit you, through talking or creative approaches. We will have a dialogue to support you in understanding your own thoughts, feelings, emotions and behaviours and there will at times be humour - being able to laugh can provide much needed relief when life is not easy.
Putting your needs first and using my professional skills, genuineness and honesty I will be alongside you, supporting you through life's difficult times.
