I am a "Type-A Researcher" (non-tenure-track Assistant Professor) in Mathematical Analysis at University of Pisa. Previously, I was a PhD student at Scuola Normale Superiore, under the supervision of prof. Massimo Gobbino.
My research field is Calculus of Variations, with a particular focus on the study of asymptotic problems through Gamma-convergence. Specifically, I have worked on the following problems:
Non-local approximations of Sobolev/BV seminorms
The regularization of the Perona-Malik equation, an ill-posed PDE used in image processing which is the formal gradient flow of a non-convex energy
The Allen-Cahn approximation of the Willmore functional
Convergence of Sobolev energies of sphere-valued maps as the exponents approach critical thresholds, which is related to the approximation of the area functional in codimension higher than one
