## Overview
Nickmap is a collaborative entertainment map. Anyone can give a place a nickname, and everyone
sees the result. You do not create an account: there is no sign-up, email, password or profile.
## What we collect
**Anonymous user ID.** When you first open the app, Firebase Anonymous Authentication assigns
your install a random ID. It is not connected to your name, email, phone number or Apple ID. We
use it to remember which nicknames you liked, to accept one report per nickname from you, and to
investigate abuse.
**Content you submit.**
- Nicknames you add or bring back. These are public: every user sees them on the map, in the
place's history and in the recent-changes feed. Other users cannot see who wrote a nickname.
We keep a private record linking each nickname to the anonymous ID that wrote it, for
moderation only.
- Likes. Only the total count is public. Which nicknames you liked is visible only to you.
- Reports. The nickname you reported and the reason you chose. Reports are visible only to us.
**Technical data.** Our infrastructure provider (Google Firebase) processes standard connection
data such as IP address and request times in order to deliver the service and protect it from
abuse. Map tiles and fonts are loaded from OpenFreeMap, whose servers likewise receive your IP
address and the map area requested.
**Stored only on your device.** Your language and country choice.
## What we do not collect
- Name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or payment details
- Your location. The app does not ask for or use GPS. (The iOS build contains a location
description text only because the map component requires one to be present.)
- Advertising identifiers. Nickmap shows no ads and does not track you across apps or websites.
- Analytics or crash-reporting data sent to third-party analytics services
## Why we use the data
- To run the shared map, nickname history and like counts
- To prevent abuse and handle reports
- To keep the service working
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
## Who processes it
- **Google Firebase / Google Cloud** — authentication and database hosting
- **OpenFreeMap** — map tiles and fonts
These providers process data on our behalf or under their own terms. Data may be processed in the
United States or other countries where they operate.
## How long we keep it
Nicknames and their history stay on the shared map so that it keeps working for everyone, until
they are replaced by other users or removed through moderation. Your anonymous ID, your likes and
your reports are kept until you delete your data or stop being identifiable (see below).
## Deleting your data
**Settings → Delete my data** removes your likes, deletes your anonymous account and clears the
app's local storage. After that, nicknames you added earlier can no longer be attributed to you by
the app. They remain on the shared map as anonymous content.
To have a specific nickname removed, report it in the app or email us. Uninstalling the app
without using "Delete my data" leaves the anonymous ID unused on our servers; email us if you want
it removed and can tell us which nicknames were yours.
## Children
Nickmap is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from
them. Nicknames must not contain sexual content involving minors, hate speech, threats or illegal
content; such names are removed.
## Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data, or to
object to its processing. Because the app holds no name or contact details, most requests are
fulfilled by "Delete my data" in the app. For anything else, contact us at the address below.
## Changes
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above changes with it.
