This chapter attempts an immanent intervention into the theoretical discourse within the field of peace education. There is a concern that the field is both under-defined and under-theorized. This fundamental uncertainty is related to trends in the broader intellectual world grouped under the name of postmodernity. This chapter thus presents an edifying philosophy of education to offer a new idealization of the field, highlighting certain components of peace education theory as the most promising for its coherence and continued relevance. It proposes a utopian turn as an opening to wider social theory, the world, and the future.
