Update: 12/1/2025 - Introducing the Girthle Refresh
Girthle is a hexadecimal color guessing game similar to Wordle. A user is given a color, currently randomly generated through random numbers. After a user guesses a code, the left-most square shows the color produced, while the 6 codes input provide a hue hint for the user to eventually guess the color. Correct digits are displayed in yellow. There is also a mobile device support using an in-built keyboard.
Over the past few months, I have been interested in further developing Girthle through overall improvements to the gameplay, connection, as well as a new game mode. With the semester coming to an end, I decided that this is the perfect time to execute this.
So far, a few ideas have come to mind. Namely, the main update to the main game is that it will be based on the day. Similar to Wordle, each day, a new unique color will be generated for users to complete. In addition, the local storage system will be improved to reflect these changes, and minor updates to the code (including due to my own improvements as a programmer!) will be applied. Finally, a new dark mode will be created. No longer will you suffer Girthling at night!
Oh, and did I mention a new way to connect? I am hoping to create an update feed, such that users can share their progress on how they solved the daily puzzle. This will allow users to share to their social media networks or by text (if there was such a dedicated fanbase!)
As for a new game mode, it is still in progress as to what it will be. I am interested in a game similar to that of Cross Climb on LinkedIn, where adjustments are made by individual digits. Then, a palette is formed in order, and the final color palette is revealed.
I will keep this updated as new updates come out!
