We operate the mobile game NIBU: Pocket Friend (the App), distributed via the Google Play Store under the package name com.nibu.pocketfriend.
Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Android application NIBU: Pocket Friend. It does not apply to any third-party websites or services that the App may link to.
What data the App itself collects
The App does not collect any personal data on its own servers - we do not operate any backend.
The following data is stored locally on your device and never leaves it: the game save (progress, currency, owned items, journal, bond, mood, collections, wishes, weekly goal state) is stored in WebView localStorage under the key nibu.save.v1, schema version 9, to restore your game state across launches.
This local data is not transmitted to us or to anyone else. You can delete it at any time by uninstalling the App or by clearing the App storage in Android Settings.
The App does not collect or process: name, email address, phone number, postal address, government IDs, location, contacts, calendar, SMS, photos, videos, audio, microphone, camera, files outside its sandbox, browsing history, biometric data, or health/fitness data.
There is currently: no account system, no cloud save, no user-generated content uploaded to any server, and no analytics SDK collecting user behavior beyond what AdMob/Play Billing inherently process (see Section 4).
Third-party services that may process your data
The App integrates two services provided by Google. Each service is a separate data controller for the data it processes.
4.1 Google AdMob (advertising, including Rewarded Ads)
The App integrates the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) in order to display advertising, including optional Rewarded Ads, once advertising is enabled in production. When AdMob actively serves ads, it may collect or process: Advertising ID (Google Advertising ID / GAID), approximate location derived from IP address, device information (model, OS version, language, screen size), app-related signals (which app served the ad, ad interactions: impressions, clicks, video completions), and a pseudonymous user identifier for ad measurement and frequency capping.
When AdMob is initialised in builds without active production ad units, the SDK may still collect a limited set of diagnostic and identifier data, but no targeted advertising occurs.
AdMob acts as a data controller for advertising purposes. Its handling of data is governed by Google's privacy notice for advertising: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads and https://support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543.
Personalized vs. non-personalized ads: Consent handling for personalized advertising will be implemented before personalized ads are enabled in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland (e.g. via Google's User Messaging Platform / UMP, or an equivalent consent mechanism). Until that consent mechanism is integrated and verified in the build, AdMob will be configured to serve only non-personalized ads in those regions. A limited set of data (e.g. coarse advertising signals) may still be processed for ad delivery, frequency capping, and fraud prevention.
4.2 Google Play Billing (in-app purchases)
The App integrates Google Play Billing to process in-app purchases once purchasable products are configured in Google Play Console. When you make a purchase, Google receives and processes the data needed to complete the transaction, including your Google Account, payment method, country, and purchase history. This data is handled by Google under its own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
The App itself does not see, store, or transmit your payment information. It only receives the purchase result (e.g. a purchase token, product ID, and purchase state) needed to grant you the purchased item locally on your device.
Advertising ID
The Google Advertising ID is a resettable identifier assigned by your Android device. AdMob uses it to measure ads and (with consent) to personalize them.
You can reset or delete your Advertising ID at any time. On Android 12 and lower: Settings > Google > Ads > Reset advertising ID / Opt out of Ads Personalization. On Android 13 and higher: Settings > Privacy > Ads > Delete advertising ID or Reset advertising ID.
Legal bases (GDPR - for users in the EU/EEA, UK and Switzerland)
We rely on the following legal bases under Art. 6(1) GDPR: saving game state locally on your device is based on Art. 6(1)(b) - performance of a contract (providing the game); showing non-personalized ads via AdMob, fraud prevention, and ad frequency capping is based on Art. 6(1)(f) - legitimate interest in operating a free, ad-supported game; showing personalized ads via AdMob is based on Art. 6(1)(a) - your consent, collected via the in-app consent dialog; processing in-app purchases via Play Billing is based on Art. 6(1)(b) - performance of a contract.
Data retention
Local game save: stored on your device until you uninstall the App or clear the App storage. AdMob and Play Billing data: retained by Google according to its own retention policies. We do not control Google's retention periods.
We do not store any personal data on servers controlled by us.
International data transfers
When AdMob and Play Billing process data, that data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside the EEA, including the United States. Google relies on standard contractual clauses, the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and other approved transfer mechanisms. See Google's transfer disclosures: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Your rights
9.1 Rights under GDPR (EU/EEA/UK/CH users)
You have the right to: access your personal data (Art. 15 GDPR), request rectification (Art. 16), request erasure (Art. 17), request restriction of processing (Art. 18), object to processing (Art. 21), data portability (Art. 20), withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)), and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77).
For the local game save stored on your device, you can exercise erasure yourself at any time by uninstalling the App or clearing its data in Android settings.
For data processed by AdMob or Play Billing, please direct your request to Google via the links in Section 4 - Google is the controller for that data.
To contact us about anything in this Policy, write to z9studio@yahoo.com.
9.2 Rights under CCPA / CPRA (California residents)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know, delete, and opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell your personal information. We do not knowingly collect personal information from California consumers via the App itself; advertising-related processing by AdMob is described in Section 4.
To submit a request, contact z9studio@yahoo.com.
Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or under the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction - 16 in many EU countries under Art. 8 GDPR). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact z9studio@yahoo.com and we will respond.
Security
The App stores save data locally on your device and does not transmit personal data over the network on its own. Connections opened by AdMob and Play Billing are secured by their respective SDKs (HTTPS).
No method of electronic storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time, for example when we add or remove SDKs or features. Material changes will be reflected in the Last Updated date. The current version is always available on this page.
