Niagara Engine Company No 6 Inc. is a 100% volunteer non-profit 501(3)C organization whose mission is to protect life and property in the Village and Town of Schoharie, from fire and other related dangers, and to provide assistance to other fire companies on a reciprocal basis, and to these ends, of constituting a unit of, and providing manpower for, the Fire Department of the Village of Schoharie. The Company provides programs that emphasize public safety, disaster preparedness and relief, focusing specifically on fire prevention, protection and control.

At Niagara Engine Company Number 6, Inc., our primary mission is the safety of our firefighters and the community we serve. To ensure the highest level of preparedness, our training program is aligned with the New York State DHSES "Recommended Best Practices for Fire Department Training Programs."  By adhering to these state-level benchmarks, we ensure that every member—from probationary recruits to veteran officers—is equipped with the core competencies required for their specific role.  We also train with our neighboring fire departments, specialty teams within Schoharie County's Office of Emergency Services (OES), and take advantage of training provided by the New York State DHSES Office of Fire Prevention and Control (OFPC).

Residents interested in joining our organization should stop by our fire station to pick up a membership application, meet our members and tour our station and equipment.  Regular training or drill nights are held at 7pm on the first two Mondays of each month followed by the next two Thursdays of each month.  We also have a monthly organization meeting on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm.
