I am currently an Assistant Professor, Academy Fellow, and Docent at the Centre for Wireless Communications, University of Oulu (UOulu), Finland. I received my B.S. degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), Vietnam, in 2014, and my MS and PhD degrees from Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTech), South Korea, in 2017 and 2020, respectively. I joined UOulu as a Postdoc in September 2020. During my PhD and postdoctoral studies, I have been a Visiting Scholar at several prestigious institutions, including North Carolina State University (Raleigh, USA, 2019-2020), the Weizmann Institute of Science and Ben-Gurion University (Israel, 2022), and the University of California, Irvine (USA, 2023).
I am passionate about using rigorous mathematical and machine learning tools to address fundamental and emerging problems in wireless communications and signal processing. I was awarded the Samsung Talented Scholarship (2014), Best M.S. and Ph.D. Dissertation Awards (2017 and 2020), Nokia Foundation Award - Jorma Ollila Grant (2022), and three (3) Best Paper Awards at IEEE Workshop on Signal Processing and Artificial Intelligence for Wireless Communications (SPAWC) in 2023, IEEE Statistical Signal Processing Workshop (SSP) in 2023, and International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications (ATC) in 2021. In 2023, I was conferred the Title of Docent by the University of Oulu for my contributions to signal processing algorithm designs for wireless systems. In the same year, I was awarded the prestigious Academy Fellowship by Research Council of Finland.
Research interests: Signal processing, optimization, deep unfolding/machine learning for wireless communications with a focus on massive MIMO systems, mmWave and THz communications, joint communications and sensing (JCAS/ISAC), multimodal-sensing assited communications.
