NGO Contribution Towards The Development Of Our Society

I have been volunteering in a food NGO for the last 5 years and I could explain the contributions of an NGO to society. The focus of an NGO is humanitarian services and improving the living standards of the people. The NGO I’m working with addresses the issue of starvation in our country by delivering food to the people on the streets and orphans. There are many NGOs working towards the hunger issue in our country. We are also delivering food to schools under the mid-day meal scheme. Through this, we are ensuring good and nutritious food for children.

NGOs raise and create awareness regarding human rights issues through media, legal and other activists. The sole purpose of this is to improve the living conditions of human beings who are discriminated against in our society. By leading the fight for equality, NGOs contribute to the social development of our society. There are NGOs working for gender equality, racial equality, LGBT rights, and women’s rights.

NGOs organize training and skill development programs as well as deliver free education to enhance the opportunities for people to lead a good life. Certification from NGOs helps people to get a job and earn a living. NGOs are conducting classes in backward areas where children are not able to visit schools and are providing books as well as other required study materials.

NGOs also played a significant role in the fight against the covid. The fund collected through NGO donations was used to provide PPE kits and other medical supplies for the health workers. The NGO I am volunteering with started a community kitchen to deliver food to patients, health workers, migrant workers, and covid relief volunteers. NGOs were also active in the blood drive during the pandemic as there was a hesitancy from the people to donate blood.

Currently, NGOs are playing a key role in the development of our society. They are also a major stakeholder in the sustainable development of our society. The state and central governments are utilizing the services of the NGOs for the successful implementation of their schemes. The significance of NGOs is increasing day by day and they will have a crucial role in building a better future.
