FST 4250: Exploration of Spanish Food Systems Summer 2025

Join us for an unforgettable 3.5-week study abroad program in Pamplona, Spain, where you'll explore Spanish food systems through cultural immersion, hands-on learning, and personalized language instruction (no prior Spanish required!). Dive into the rich food culture of Spain, studying food processing, nutrition, and sensory evaluation of “Denominación de Origen Controlada” foods, all while enjoying excursions to Pamplona and surrounding cities. This unique program, in collaboration with the Public University of Navarre (UPNA), offers an exceptional opportunity for students to gain academic and cultural insights, enhancing both your education and global perspective.

This exclusive opportunity is open to juniors, seniors, and graduate students majoring in Food Science and Nutrition (FST, NTR) or minoring in Culinology or Plant-Based Studies. Students outside these programs or those below junior status may also apply with instructor approval. While priority is given to these majors, students from other disciplines will benefit from learning about global food systems and sustainable practices. This program provides an enriching cultural and academic experience for all participants. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required to participate. Speaking Spanish is NOT a requirement.
