Underground Injection Wells are wells used for injecting water or other fluids into a groundwater aquifer. Department of Health Administrative Rules, Title 11, Chapter 23 provides conditions governing the location, construction, and operation of injection wells so that injected fluids do not migrate and pollute underground sources of drinking water. Section 4 of the Rules gives the criteria for classifying aquifers into those that are designated as underground sources of drinking water and those that are not.
Effective January 1, 2024, the Department will be accepting applications for a new UST Grant Program. The Department published new regulations which allows us to issue grants to eligible UST owners to help in the cost of upgrading single wall underground storage tanks systems to double wall systems. The Nevada Regional Common Ground Alliance is open to any individual, organization, municipality or corporation interested in the promotion of underground damage prevention in the state of Nevada. The NRCGA provides a forum for members and non-members to exchange information and ideas at monthly meetings, offers free excavator training on damage prevention and Nevada excavation law, and holds events throughout the year to educate homeowners and excavators about the importance of calling 811 before beginning any digging project.
WHO MAY HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR INFORMATION. USA North is comprised of various participating members who opt to become members of USA North and who own or operate any underground facilities in the area served by USA North. We provide our services through member agreements with participating members. The participating members carry or transport materials including, but not limited to, water, gas, oil, fuel, and sewage, and/or conduit used for electric, telephone, or other services. USA North provides personal information to its participating members for the purpose of providing services. Our participating members may use your personal information for the purpose of carrying out the work as agreed with us.
Using the USA North member engineering contact information, you will be able to contact each USA North Member identified, and request that they provide you with their underground facility as-built drawings, red-line their facilities on your design drawings, and/or discuss your design work with them.
The Design Inquiry Member assumes total responsibility for selecting a correct and accurate design site USA North will only display USA North members who indicate that they may have underground facilities at the design site at the time and date that the design inquiry is submitted. Each design inquiry is time and date stamped for this purpose. It is the responsibility of the Design Inquiry Member to contact any non-USA North facility owners at the design site.
The utility members listed on your ticket can respond in a number of different ways, including marking the location of their underground facilities at your site, contacting you via email or phone to advise you that your site is clear from any conflict with their underground facilities, or by providing you information about the location of their underground facilities such as maps or as-built plans. You are required by law to get a response from all utility members on your ticket before you can begin your work.
Submitting a utility locate request to USA North 811 for your planned dig project is free of charge. The utility members bear the burden of funding the center and the cost of locating the utilities in an effort to provide the public a free service that will prevent or limit damage to underground utilities.

The depth of utilities varies by location and by type of utility. An underground pipe or cable may no longer be at the same depth as when it was originally buried if grading, leveling, erosion or other nearby surface activity has taken place. For that reason, state law does not require utility owners to indicate the depth of their underground facilities.
The UIC Program works to prevent contamination of underground sources of drinking water (USDW) by regulating the discharge of hazardous and non-hazardous fluids into subsurface disposal systems.
