Nexus Ultimate is the commercial version of the free Nexus dock, adding support for multiple docks, categorized sub-docks, multiple tabbed docks (Shelves), Drawers (dock + single tabbed Shelf hybrid) plus even more widgets and cool looking mouseover effects.

Eheh, you don't turn it on, you just start typing (and press ESC to dismiss, and backspace to delete characters). It's actually very simple to use, as described above.

EDIT: But you can find some settings to either disable this feature or change its color options in Shelf Properties -> Behavior tab -> More Options dialog.

IIRC, in OD the tabs of a tabbed dock were completely separate from the actual body, but under Winstep that wasn't true, especially not in the earlier themes (now skinners can specify a whole body bitmap and overlap the tabs on it, which completely prevents that issue).

Seriously now, normally you would have to change the theme itself, but you can also open Preferences, go to the Themes tab, click Fonts button, select each line of text related to the Weather module and change its color.

Remember, many themes were made at a time when tabs could not yet be centered in the application, but some themes (those where the body of the Shelf is a separate unit from the tabs, so the body does not appear cropped at the top like in the screenshot above) can - and should - appear with empty sections at the left and right of the tabs (like in the first screenshot above).

I fixed it by trying to automatically detect the latter type of themes and keeping them 'as is'. The routine errs on the side of caution though, so it doesn't get it right 100% of the time, but at least this means things like those in the first screenshot are now a thing of the past.

Something else: regardless of tab justification, I think the left and right mini-tab symbols should ALWAYS appear the extreme edges of the Shelf (unless in the special case described above of the tabs being independent from the body).

1. Invoking Grid Stacks from NextSTART.

2. Opening shortcuts to folders as Grid Stacks.

3. Automatic multi-monitor/screen resolution profiles.

4. Proper centering plus left and right justifying of tabs in themes that did not previously support this.

5. Fixed disabling menu and shelf scaling on high DPI systems not working properly.

6. Fixed the minimum width calculation allowing tabs in Drawers and Shelves to be cropped on certain themes.

I want to apply an Object Dock skin, but I can't import it to the themes. I tried to add it as a .zip and an xtreme file. I know there are 4 folders in the zip and I tried to import each one. Didn't work.

Just tried it here, and after importing the original zip file I have four new entries (all of them functional) in the 'Dock Themes' category of the Themes tab in Preferences: Midnight_Tab1, Midnight_Tile1a, Midnight_Tile2a and Midnight_Zoom1.

I think the issue here is that you are expecting OD themes to be available under the 'Winstep Themes' category. As the name implies, that category will only show native Winstep Themes, which have (should have) skins for all Winstep objects (Shelves, docks, desktop modules, NextSTART menus and taskbar, etc...) and take advantage of all the Winstep skinning options.

If you open Preferences, go to the Themes tab and then change the category from 'Winstep Themes' to 'Dock Themes' you should find the Midnight entries I mentioned above there. Again, 3rd party themes (ObjectDock, RocketDock, RKLauncher, etc...) only apply to docks.

Ok I got it now. I know about the drop down box it wasn't showing up before. I restarted Nexus and they showed up. After messing with it last night I now have 3 entries of each. I only see them for the docks, this doesn't work for the shelf?

LOL. You were getting the betas because you have 'Notify me of beta (test) versions' enabled in the Advanced tab of Preferences - and it NEVER is the exact same update: although the version number is the same, the build number is not.

Just a small heads up: Yahoo also made changes to their weather feed at the end of January that broke existing applications/websites using it. Although very rarely used by the Winstep application - if ever - that is one less backup feed that can be relied on.

EDIT: they just white-listed Winstep applications to use the new feed. Of course, now I must change the code to use their OAuth1 authentication in order for it to work again. Sigh. Why can't they just leave it alone?!

This beta, among other things, fixes the temporary folder Grid Stacks opening as a 1x1 icon Grid Stack, and adds compatibility with ObjectDock tabbed dock skins. Would really appreciate feedback on the latter as I only tested this with a handful of ObjectDock themes.

To apply ObjectDock tabbed dock skins from the Themes tab of Preferences to *all* Shelves, Grid Stacks and Drawers at once, you must change the top left combo box from 'Winstep Themes' to 'Shelf Themes' - only then will the 3rd party themes be shown (same thing already happens with docks, you must change the combo box from 'Winstep Themes' to 'Dock Themes' to see the non-Winstep dock themes). Notice that only OD themes that explicitly skin tabbed docks will be shown.

One thing I did find, when you import a theme you can't grab a side to make it longer. The problem is the fonts in the tabs don't adjust, so if it says Programs I get Pro.. Even setting the fonts to the smallest which is 8 I still get the same thing.

It's also true then from then to now I also made some changes to add support for Windows 10 Dark Mode, etc, but I am not aware of doing this breaking compatibility with WB themes (at least nobody complained). I also looked at the code and see no obvious reason for such a thing to happen.

Icons in docks, Shelves, etc, can now be colorized using one of three different methods (Tint, Hue or Tone). Tint is the most useful method for icon colorization, unless the icons are black, in which case you should use Tone.

I installed WB on a Windows 10 VM, selected a different style, clicked on Change System Colours and changed System Colour: Window to yellow (because all the default styles that ship with WB apparently use the same white background color), run Xtreme and it worked, even the Item Properties dialog is properly showing yellow as the background color.

Also, applied the Echo theme (apparently the only theme shipping with WB where the window background color is not pure white) and the dialog windows in Xtreme assumed the new (correct) background color. So, no idea why it isn't working there?

Which is a Master skin, so I can't do a quick test. Sigh.

Quoting Hankers, reply 86Changing the System Color: Window to a different color works but even WB's that have a light and dark setting show as white background in the Preferences settings.

Should be a way for the color change the Preferences background color to the selected sub-style of the WindowBlind.

Well, the white in those Winstep dialogs should be brown like in the File Explorer window at the left, and I don't know why it isn't. Sent a PM to Neil, maybe he will be able to shed some light on this. 152ee80cbc
