Ending Poverty
in Nigeria
Africa faces persistent poverty challenges, with Sub-Saharan Africa seeing a slower decline in poverty rates compared to global trends. While global poverty dropped from 38% in 1990 to 9% in 2019, Sub-Saharan Africaʼs rate fell from 55% to 37%. The festival will explore practical ideas to reverse this trend, focusing on Nigeria's unique context
This documentary goes beyond statistics to tell the human story of poverty in Nigeria. It amplifies the voices behind the data, those of real people whose experiences of resilience and struggle reveal the depth of everyday challenges faced by communities.
By highlighting these lived realities, the documentary sets the context for a broader conversation on what it truly means to build inclusive growth and shared prosperity. It highlights the struggles that millions face and underscores the urgent need for people-centred policies that prioritise human dignity at the heart of development.
