Privacy Policy - Nexus Download Collection
Effective Date: August 10, 2026
1. Overview
Nexus Download Collection ("the Extension") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how data is handled when you use our browser extension. The Extension is designed to work completely locally on your device without collecting, transmitting, or selling any personal data.
2. Information Collection and Usage
The Extension does NOT collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII), browser history, analytics, or user telemetry to any external servers.
All preferences and data processed by the Extension remain strictly on your local browser:
- Extension Preferences: Your download speed settings, pause delays, and preferred download method (Vortex vs Browser) are saved locally using Chrome's `storage.local` API.
- Download History: A record of mod file IDs you have downloaded is kept in local browser storage to prevent redundant downloads.
3. Explanation of Requested Permissions
To provide its functionality, the Extension requests the following browser permissions:
- `storage`: Used to persist user settings and download history locally on your device.
- `downloads`: Used to automatically initiate mod file downloads into your browser's default downloads directory when using Browser Download mode.
- `activeTab`: Used by the extension popup to detect if the current active tab is a Nexus Mods Collection page and display relevant controls.
- Host Permissions (`https://*.nexusmods.com/*` & `https://api-router.nexusmods.com/*`): Required to query the Nexus Mods GraphQL API for collection mod metadata and fetch mod download URLs on behalf of the user.
4. Third-Party Web Interactions
The Extension communicates directly with `nexusmods.com` and `api-router.nexusmods.com` solely to retrieve collection file manifests and download links. It does not send any data to external analytics services, advertisers, or third-party servers.
5. Data Security
Because all extension data is stored locally in your browser sandbox, your information is protected by Chrome's built-in security architecture. Clearing your extension data or uninstalling the extension completely removes all stored preferences and history.
6. Contact & Inquiries
If you have any questions regarding this Privacy Policy or the Extension's permissions, please contact the developer through the official Chrome Web Store support channel.
