It has been a difficult couple of years with Covid dominating, and here’s hoping we never have to experience a pandemic of such proportions again.
Imagine if we did not have our phones or computers and TVs, to keep in touch with Zoom, Whats App, and other…
However, onwards and upwards, Class of 68 … is lucky to have interested classmates that want to keep in touch.
We were supposed to have a Class reunion last year, but all the plans stalled due to Covid. We are now planning a reunion, in Tuscany – June 2023. It was a bit difficult to get quotes, as the hotels themselves were unable to commit. But we have finally bedded a location, hotel and tours. Albeit a short reunion of 4 nights 5 days…but a reunion nonetheless. We have around 20 interested parties, made up of
classmates and partners.
This will be our 5 th Reunion since 2009 when our class got together. Goa, Porto – Portugal, Split – Croatia, Chania – Crete, and now Montecatini –Tuscany, Italy. So fingers crossed all goes to plan.
This year most of us celebrated 70 year birthdays, so there has been celebrations all around the world. Most of us are fully retired and there are a couple of classmates still working.
During the lock downs we were fortunate to interact with our classmates via Zoom. Our last Zoom call was held on Dec 14, 2022. We are fortunate to have a monk amongst our classmates, and were able to have a couple of Masses celebrated by Fr. Alexander (Byron Costa Fernandes). He is currently in South America continuing the Outreach charity programme.
We have a classmate in Kenya, Baldip Khan who helps funding for Oscar who is looking after street kids in the slums of Kisumu, Kenya. Other classmates are involved in various charities in their part of the world.
We also have had mini reunions when classmates visit – Celia Diniz (nee Rogtan) visited Sydney pre Covid, I visited Toronto and met with the Canadians, several classmates visited UK, and recently, Filandro Fernandes visited Sydney. Click below for photos:
