Taking Animals For Granted
Are we truly “ animal lovers” if we continue to take their lives for granted?

According to researchgate.net 22% of people in 2022 are vegetarians. reasons for this may differ: animal cruelty is a large part of why eating meat may be considered unethical. Masses of animals are killed every day to obtain meat production. According to the US Animal Kill Count, around 23.3 million land animals are killed every day in the United states.
There are numerous negative effects meat production has on the environment. Oxford news reported that livestock farming contributes 18% of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. If we want to continue living on earth, drastic measures must be taken to change the way meat is being produced.
Health can also be a factor for being vegetarian. vegetarians eat less saturated fats and cholesterol; they take in more vitamins and nutrient-rich foods which reduces the risk of disease and illness.
Many religions are against meat eating; They believe in a concept known as ahimsa. This translates to “nonviolence”. They believe that any living creatures should not be harmed physically or emotionally. so, why are people on naples? Why is it that 86% of humans eat meat? There are “animal lovers” That indulge in eating animals. They say that they would never kill or hurt an animal, yet they are happy to enjoy a fried drumstick that comes from a chicken which has been cage-free all its life. When speaking about eating dogs and cats, people stare and cringe; but no one thinks twice about the harsh living conditions and the killings of cows, pigs, chickens, sheep, etc. animals should live free, happy lives, just as we do. animals should not be home, or be alive for the main purpose of being eaten by humans. It seems gruesome to eat another human being; but why is it any different to eating an animal? Animals are intelligent creatures who share many traits and characteristics with humans. Both species sleep, drink, eat, think and communicate. Many say that animals don't feel emotions, but many studies disagree; animals have all the “ human” emotions we have, they just don't express them in the same way. no animals should suffer to satisfy the wants of humans. animals should be honored, acknowledged and respected. we should appreciate the cow that was slaughtered as we slice out for the stakes; think of the sheep that was butchered while we bite into our lamb shanks. If knowing what we are eating makes us uneasy, we should rethink our dietary choices, because the death of a living creature should not be pushed to the back of our minds for the sake of “ comfort”.
