Steve, this is Art. I have seen 5-6 DTS-X movies now on my Yamaha Rxa-3050 and I think you hit the nail on the head. Crimson Peak has the most noticeable overhead sound. The bathtub scene had great emersion. Wind and weather was all encompassing too. Thanks.
I do wonder, however, about the releases with DTS Headphone:X tracks. How to find info on these? I know Ex Machina is released with this track, but how about others? There is a DTS demo track volume 20 that features a lot of demo tracks from movies, does this mean all those movies come with DTS Headphone:X track or will?
also when will amazon etc list the fact that the bluray is in Atmos or DTS-x etc as i often buy thinking the format is dts-x (folowing this web site) only to find it is not so i send the blurays back i ma based based in the UK really like the dts-x and atmos format and try to bu what ever comes out !!
Hi. I am paul, avid movie person. Own over 20,000 dvd/blurays. Recently got LG 4k bluray player UP875 model . And mentioned it plays everything, including ATMOS -even DTS-HD and DTS- BUT NOT DTS:X. I even wrote to LG and LG stated it does not play the the DTS:X. BUT CNET article I perused, stated if a bluray player can play DTS and DTS-HD, no problem, that it sounds like the LG player would play the DTS:X movies anyway. Would you agree? Would the LG UP875 play and have same DTS:X sound then??
If not, I do still retain the SONY bluray player which plays both ATMOS and DTS:X, as does my Yamaha receiver has both DTS:X and ATMOS.

Andrews' acting is as laudable as her singing, and her presence charmed even those reviewers critical of The Sound of Music's sweetness; the audience adored it to the tune of record-breaking grosses. Nominated for ten Oscars, The Sound of Music won five, including Best Picture, Director, Sound, and Adapted Score. None of the 1960s musicals that followed it came close to matching its popularity.
First off, every new concert release should have either an Atmos or dts-X soundtrack (4K video also wouldn't hurt). The Last Waltz is without doubt one of the best rock concerts ever. It probably would have been my #1 if it actually included the advertised dts-HD MA soundtrack rather than the 16/48 uncompressed 5.1 PCM of the standard bluray. Other great sounding classic rock concerts on BD: Santana IV; Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii (from The Early Years box set); Moody Blues at the 1970 Isle of Wight; The Rolling Stones Totally Stripped (4BD/1CD set); Cream at the Royal Albert Hall; The Who at Kilburn; 50th Anniversary Yes (Anderson, Rabin & Wakeman) at the Apollo; Ian Anderson's Thick As A Brick from Iceland; and A Concert By The Lake (various musicians including Clapton, Gary Brooker, Mike Rutherford, and Ringo). While I agree that Gilmour's Live at Pompeii sounds fantastic, I prefer the set list from his earlier Live at the Royal Albert Hall. Speaking of Gilmour, both Delicate Sound of Thunder and Pulse from The Later Years sound awesome.
Although more of a video collection than a concert, The Beatles "1" on bluray is a collection of their 27 No. 1 hits in the UK and/or US and includes an excellent dts-HD MA soundtrack.
Take Alfred Drake: Bell Telephone Hour 1959-1962. Here is Alfred, alright, and he is in fine voice. In the first of the four segments, he appears without that beard we are so used to seeing him in. (We can understand why he kept it, mostly, from 1953 on.) That voice is certainly glorious when he sings several of his Kiss Me, Kate songs, as well as items like "You Have Cast Your Shadow on the Sea" and "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face." "Tonight," though, not so much. There is also an extended medley of songs from the Revolutionary, Civil and First World Wars, which was probably a big favorite with senior citizens back in 1960. Drake is joined by co-stars Patrice Munsel, Mindy Carson and Sally Ann Howes. The 29-nine-year-old Howes stands out; what's more, we get to hear her sing "I Could Have Danced All Night," which she performed on Broadway as the first replacement for Julie Andrews in My Fair Lady. be457b7860
