This Privacy Policy explains how the New AI Tab Chrome extension (the “Extension”) handles information.
The Extension is designed to replace Chrome’s New Tab with an AI prompt launcher.
The Extension does not run developer-owned servers and does not sell personal data.
Most data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome’s storage APIs.
When you type a prompt on the New Tab page, the Extension uses it to open your selected AI provider (ChatGPT / Claude / Gemini).
Depending on your settings:
If Always copy to clipboard is enabled, the Extension copies your prompt to your clipboard.
If Auto input is enabled, the Extension may include your prompt in the destination URL as a parameter so the content script can auto-fill the provider’s input box. The Extension attempts to remove these parameters from the address bar after completion.
The Extension does not store a prompt history.
The Extension stores user preferences such as:
Language, default AI provider, open mode
Auto input / auto send / clipboard fallback toggles
Clock size
Background preferences (mode, blur/dim, fit, focus position)
Favorites list (title and URL)
If you choose a local photo:
The Extension reads the selected image file in your browser, optimizes it locally (e.g., resize/compress), and stores the optimized image data and file name so it can be used as your New Tab background.
Depending on how you use the Extension, your browser may send network requests to:
AI provider websites you open (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini)
picsum.photos when Online random (Picsum) background is enabled
Google’s favicon service (www.google.com/s2/favicons) as a fallback for favorites icons
These third parties may receive standard web request data (such as IP address and user agent). Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies.
The Extension uses information only to provide its features:
Launching an AI provider with your prompt
Optional auto-fill and optional auto-send on provider pages
Favorites management and display
Background customization and rendering
The Extension does not use data for advertising, analytics, or profiling.
The Extension does not transmit your data to developer-owned backend servers.
When you open and interact with third-party AI providers, your activity is subject to those providers’ policies.
When you enable online backgrounds or favicon fallback, your browser connects directly to those third-party endpoints.
chrome.storage.sync: settings and favorites may be synced across devices if you have Chrome Sync enabled. Data remains until you change it, reset it, or uninstall the Extension.
chrome.storage.local: the local background photo data is stored locally until you remove it, reset settings, or uninstall the Extension.
You can:
Turn Auto input / Auto send / Always copy to clipboard on or off in Options
Remove the local background photo
Reset all settings to defaults
Uninstall the Extension (which removes stored data)
The Extension relies on Chrome’s built-in storage mechanisms. The Extension does not send user data to developer servers. Third-party requests occur only when you use features that require them.
The Extension is not intended for children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the effective date when changes are made.

본 개인정보 처리방침은 크롬 확장 프로그램 New AI Tab(이하 “확장 프로그램”)이 정보를 어떻게 처리하는지 설명합니다.
확장 프로그램은 개발자 서버를 운영하지 않으며, 사용자 데이터를 판매하지 않습니다.
대부분의 정보는 Chrome 저장소 API를 통해 브라우저(로컬/동기화 저장소)에 저장됩니다.
사용자가 입력한 프롬프트는 AI 실행을 위해 사용되며, 확장 프로그램이 프롬프트 이력으로 저장하지는 않습니다.
새 탭에서 입력한 프롬프트는 사용자가 선택한 AI 서비스(ChatGPT/Claude/Gemini)를 열기 위해 사용됩니다.
“항상 클립보드 복사”가 켜져 있으면, 확장 프로그램은 프롬프트를 클립보드에 복사하여 자동 입력 실패 시에도 즉시 붙여넣기가 가능하도록 합니다.
“자동 입력”이 켜져 있으면, 자동 입력을 위해 프롬프트가 목적지 URL 파라미터로 포함될 수 있으며, 입력 후 주소창에서 해당 파라미터를 제거하려고 시도합니다.
다음과 같은 설정을 저장할 수 있습니다.
언어, 기본 AI, 열기 방식
자동 입력/자동 전송/클립보드 폴백 설정
시계 크기
배경 설정(모드, 블러/딤, 맞춤 방식, 포커스 위치)
즐겨찾기 목록(이름/URL)
사용자가 로컬 사진을 선택하면, 확장 프로그램은 해당 이미지를 **로컬에서 재인코딩/최적화(리사이즈/압축)**한 뒤 새 탭 배경으로 사용할 수 있도록 저장합니다.
최적화된 이미지 데이터와 파일명을 저장합니다.
설정/사용 방식에 따라 브라우저가 다음과 같은 외부 서비스에 요청을 보낼 수 있습니다.
사용자가 열어보는 AI 서비스 웹사이트(ChatGPT/Claude/Gemini)
“온라인 랜덤(Picsum)” 배경 사용 시 picsum.photos
즐겨찾기 아이콘 표시를 위한 폴백으로 Google favicon 서비스(www.google.com/s2/favicons)
이 과정에서 외부 서비스는 일반적인 웹 요청 정보(IP 주소, User-Agent 등)를 수신할 수 있습니다.
확장 프로그램은 아래 기능 제공을 위해서만 정보를 사용합니다.

광고, 분석(analytics), 프로파일링 목적으로 정보를 사용하지 않습니다.
확장 프로그램은 사용자 정보를 개발자 서버로 전송하지 않습니다.
사용자가 AI 서비스를 열고 프롬프트를 전송하는 행위는 해당 AI 서비스 제공자의 개인정보 처리에 따릅니다.
온라인 배경/아이콘 폴백 사용 시 위에 기재된 외부 엔드포인트로 브라우저가 직접 요청을 보낼 수 있습니다.
chrome.storage.sync: 설정/즐겨찾기 등은 사용자의 Chrome 동기화 설정에 따라 기기 간 동기화될 수 있으며, 사용자가 변경/초기화/삭제(확장 삭제)하기 전까지 보관됩니다.
chrome.storage.local: 로컬 배경 사진 데이터는 사용자가 제거/초기화/삭제(확장 삭제)하기 전까지 로컬에 보관됩니다.
이용자는 설정에서 다음을 할 수 있습니다.

전체 설정 초기화
확장 프로그램 삭제(저장 데이터 제거)
확장 프로그램은 Chrome의 저장소 메커니즘을 이용해 데이터를 저장하며, 개발자 서버로 사용자 데이터를 전송하지 않습니다. 외부 서비스와의 통신은 해당 서비스가 제공하는 HTTPS 연결을 사용합니다.
본 확장 프로그램은 아동을 대상으로 하지 않으며 아동의 개인정보 수집을 목적으로 하지 않습니다.
본 방침은 필요 시 변경될 수 있으며, 변경 시 시행일을 갱신합니다.
