This specific model stands out as the top choice for anyone who prioritizes stability and ease of use above all else. It is a solid, heavy-duty aluminum pan featuring a distinct wide rim design. In my opinion, this wide rim is the critical feature that makes it ideal for elderly users or anyone with limited dexterity. The extra edge provides a substantial handle-like surface that is easy to grasp firmly, reducing the risk of slipping when moving a hot tray from the oven to the counter. Unlike thin screens where fingers might slip off the smooth metal, this rim gives you something secure to hold onto, making the transition from baking to serving much safer.
The construction is built for serious durability, using thick aluminum that promotes even heat distribution. This means you won't get burnt spots or undercooked centers, which is essential when you cannot constantly monitor the oven or rotate the tray manually. The 8-inch diameter is perfectly sized for individual servings, appetizers, or personal pizzas. For someone cooking alone or preparing a single meal, this size feels manageable and doesn't overwhelm the oven space. You can bake the pizza, slide it directly to the table, and serve it right from the pan, streamlining the cleanup process significantly.
However, there is a trade-off to consider regarding versatility. Because this is a solid pan rather than a mesh screen, it does not allow air to circulate underneath the dough in the same way open screens do. If your goal is an intensely crispy, airy crust that mimics a brick oven floor, the solid bottom might result in a slightly softer texture compared to the mesh options. It is designed more for convenience, presentation, and reliability than for achieving the absolute maximum crunch. For many, especially those who value the safety of the wide rim over niche textural preferences, this trade-off is well worth it.
This 10-inch option is a workhorse for the average home baker or small eatery. The defining characteristic here is the seamless construction combined with an open mesh design. The lack of a welded seam along the edges means there is no place for dough to catch, tear, or get stuck. This is a game-changer for anyone who has struggled with removing delicate dough from a pan, as the smooth interior allows the pizza to glide off effortlessly. The mesh structure itself is engineered to let heat flow freely beneath the dough, which helps create a crisper, more evenly browned crust without the soggy middle that sometimes plagues solid pans.
I find this size particularly useful for standard personal pizzas or small family pies. It strikes a balance between being large enough to hold a satisfying amount of toppings and small enough to fit easily into most residential ovens. The lightweight aluminum material ensures that even though it is durable enough for repeated commercial use, it remains easy to lift and maneuver. This lightness is crucial for reducing fatigue during long cooking sessions or when handling hot trays. The seamless nature also means cleaning is straightforward; food particles don't get trapped in corners or seams, so a simple rinse often suffices after use.
The main limitation of this unit is that it comes as a single item, meaning you cannot bake multiple pizzas simultaneously unless you own several of them. If you are hosting a gathering and need to cook three pizzas in quick succession, you will be waiting for the oven to reheat between batches. Additionally, while the mesh is excellent for crispiness, some users might find the open structure less stable for sliding very wet or saucy toppings compared to a solid pan, requiring a bit more care when transferring ingredients.

Stepping up to the 16-inch version, we move into territory designed for large families or professional settings where space is at a premium but output needs to be high. This baking screen offers a massive surface area that accommodates large, shareable pizzas without compromising on the quality of the bake. The seamless design continues to protect the dough from tearing, which becomes even more important when stretching dough across such a wide diameter. A larger pie requires more careful handling, and the smooth, uninterrupted surface ensures that the dough slides off cleanly without snagging on any rough edges.
The open mesh construction here is vital for maintaining that crisp texture even on a large scale. Without proper airflow, the center of a large pizza can become dense and doughy, but this screen's design ensures heat penetrates evenly from the bottom up. The aluminum material is robust enough to support the weight of a fully loaded 16-inch pie without warping, even under high heat. This stability is reassuring for anyone worried about the screen bending or sagging when moving it in and out of a hot oven. It transforms the baking process from a gamble into a consistent routine, delivering professional results every time.
The primary drawback is the sheer size. A 16-inch screen may not fit in smaller ovens or on certain stovetops, limiting its utility for households with compact appliances. Furthermore, because it is a single unit, you are limited to baking one large pizza at a time. If you are used to making multiple small pizzas quickly, this size forces a slower pace. It is best suited for those who prefer fewer, larger meals or who run a small business where portion sizes are bigger. The investment in just one piece might feel steep if you aren't sure it fits your specific cooking style, but for the right user, it is an indispensable tool.

This 18-inch variant pushes the boundaries of what a home baker can achieve, essentially turning a standard kitchen into a mini-pizzeria. It is designed for those who want to serve large groups or enjoy the experience of making true giant pizzas. The seamless aluminum construction handles the increased surface area with grace, preventing any dough from catching on the edges during transfer. The open mesh design ensures that even at this impressive size, the heat circulation remains optimal, preventing the dreaded "doughy center" issue that often affects large homemade pies.
What makes this screen stand out is its ability to maintain structural integrity despite its expansive size. The aluminum is heavy-duty enough to support a towering stack of toppings without buckling, yet it remains light enough to be handled safely. The mesh pattern allows for rapid, even browning, which is critical when baking something this large to ensure the cheese melts and the crust browns uniformly. It is an excellent choice for entertaining, allowing you to bring a centerpiece dish directly from the oven to the table.
However, the size presents significant logistical challenges. Not every oven can accommodate an 18-inch circle, so this product is strictly for those with large-capacity ranges. Even if it fits, the depth of the oven might be a factor, as large pizzas sometimes require a lower rack position to avoid burning the top before the bottom is done. Additionally, managing an 18-inch pizza requires two hands and careful coordination, which might be difficult for individuals with mobility issues. It is a powerful tool, but only for the right environment and the right cook.

Here we see a practical approach to efficiency: a pack of six 8-inch screens. This bundle is perfect for households that frequently cook for multiple people or for those who want to prepare several small pizzas at once. The seamless design ensures that each individual portion is easy to make and remove, while the mesh construction guarantees a consistently crispy crust for every single slice. Having six units means you can pre-bake crusts, assemble them, and then pop them all into the oven in stages or all at once if your oven is large enough, drastically cutting down on wait times.
The compact 8-inch size is incredibly versatile. These are ideal for kids' lunches, individual appetizers, or simply keeping portions controlled. The lightweight aluminum makes these screens effortless to wash and store, and having a full pack means you always have a clean one ready when you need it. The open mesh design works beautifully at this scale, promoting fast cooking times and even browning without the need for constant rotation. It is a smart buy for anyone who values speed and consistency in their daily cooking routine.
The trade-off here is the initial storage requirement. Keeping six round screens takes up more cabinet space than a single solid pan, though they stack relatively well. Additionally, while the pack offers great value and convenience, buying six separate items upfront might be a higher initial cost than purchasing a single unit. However, for frequent bakers, the time saved by having multiples on hand far outweighs the storage consideration. It is a solution for those who view baking as a regular habit rather than a rare event.

This 10-inch pack of six offers a middle ground between the tiny individual portions and the large family sizes. It is designed for the busy household that wants to feed a family or host a casual dinner party without spending hours in the kitchen. Each screen features the same seamless, open-mesh construction that promotes airflow and prevents dough from sticking, ensuring that every pizza comes out with a perfect crust. The 10-inch diameter is a sweet spot for many American ovens, fitting comfortably while still providing enough room for generous toppings.
Having six of these screens changes the dynamic of meal prep. Instead of baking one pizza and waiting for the oven to cool down before starting the next, you can load the oven efficiently or stagger your cooking. This is particularly helpful for elderly users who may tire easily from standing at the oven for long periods. The ability to prepare multiple pizzas quickly reduces the physical strain of cooking. The lightweight nature of the aluminum makes handling a full set of six screens manageable, even for those with weaker grip strength.
The main downside is that the 10-inch size might be too small for those who love extra-large slices or deep-dish styles. If you prefer a massive pie, these will feel limiting. Also, like the 8-inch pack, storing six items requires dedicated shelf space. While they are stackable, they take up more room than a single solid pan. Nevertheless, for families that order pizza regularly or bake frequently, this pack offers the ultimate convenience and consistency, eliminating the worry of finding a suitable pan for each meal.
This 12-inch pack of six is tailored for those who need a slightly larger canvas for their culinary creations. It bridges the gap between personal and family-sized pizzas, making it an excellent choice for medium-sized gatherings or for families who enjoy hearty portions. The seamless design ensures that even when working with a larger dough sheet, the risk of tearing is minimized. The open mesh design continues to provide the benefits of enhanced airflow, resulting in a crust that is both crispy and evenly cooked, a feat that can be challenging with solid pans at this size.
The pack format is the real winner here. With six 12-inch screens, you have the flexibility to bake multiple medium pizzas simultaneously, which is a huge time-saver for busy weeknights. The aluminum construction is durable enough to withstand repeated use, and the lightweight design keeps the effort low when loading and unloading the oven. For elderly users, the ability to prepare a full meal for a group without the exhaustion of sequential baking is a significant advantage. The uniformity of the pack ensures that every pizza looks and tastes exactly the same, adding to the appeal of a consistent dining experience.
However, the 12-inch size might be too large for smaller ovens, potentially restricting airflow or causing uneven cooking if the oven is cramped. Storage is also a factor; keeping six 12-inch screens requires a substantial amount of space. If you have a small kitchen, this might be a challenge. Additionally, for those who prefer very large, restaurant-style pies, 12 inches might still feel a bit small. But for the majority of home cooks who need a balance between size and manageability, this pack offers a robust and efficient solution.
New Star Foodservice Restaurant-Grade Seamless Aluminum
Rounding out our list is the 16-inch pack of six, a powerhouse for anyone who loves to entertain or runs a small home-based food business. This set combines the benefits of the large 16-inch baking screen with the convenience of having multiple units. The seamless construction is critical at this size, as it prevents the dough from catching on any rough edges when stretching or transferring. The open mesh design ensures that heat circulates effectively across the entire surface, delivering a professional-quality crust that is crisp and golden.
Having six of these large screens is a game-changer for volume cooking. You can bake a dozen large pizzas in a single evening without the downtime associated with waiting for a single pan to cool. This is ideal for parties, potlucks, or catering small events. The durability of the aluminum ensures that these screens can handle the rigors of frequent use, and the lightweight design makes them easier to manage than heavier solid pans. For elderly users, the ability to prepare a feast for guests without excessive physical exertion is invaluable.
The primary constraint is space. Six 16-inch screens are bulky and require significant storage capacity. They may not fit in standard kitchen cabinets, necessitating alternative storage solutions. Additionally, the size means that not all ovens can accommodate even a single unit, let alone multiple. This product is best suited for those with ample kitchen space and large appliances. Despite these limitations, for the right user, this pack represents the pinnacle of efficiency and quality for large-scale baking.
We compared published specs and features across the entire range of New Star Foodservice products to identify the best options for different needs. No brand paid for placement, and no external endorsements influenced this selection.
Yes, the solid aluminum pan with the wide rim is specifically noted for its improved handling, offering a secure grip that reduces strain. The lightweight mesh screens are also easy to lift, minimizing wrist pressure.
The open mesh design of the baking screens is ideal for convection ovens as it allows air to circulate freely around the food, promoting even cooking and faster baking times.
Because they feature seamless construction, food residue does not get trapped in corners. Most users find that a simple wash with warm soapy water is sufficient, though they are generally dishwasher safe depending on the specific model's durability rating.
Absolutely. The solid pan is great for appetizers, tarts, and single-serving dishes, while the mesh screens work well for reheating bread, baking cookies, or staging other baked goods that benefit from airflow.
