Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM)
The BEM is a statutory body constituted under the Registration of Engineers Act 1967 with perpetual succession and a common seal, which may sue and be sued. It was formed in 23rd August 1972.
BEM primary role is to facilitate the registration of Engineers, Engineering Technologists, Inspectors of Works, Sole Proprietorships, Partnerships and Bodies Corporate providing professional engineering services and; to regulate the professional conduct and practice of registered person in order to safeguard the safety and interest of the public.
Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC)
The EAC is a delegated body by the Board of Engineers Malaysia as the only recognized accrediting body for engineering degree programmes offered in Malaysia.
The EAC was instrumental in ensuring Malaysia’s EAC accredited engineering programmes are substantially equivalent to the engineering degrees of the signatories of the Washington Accord.
Engineering Technology Accreditation Council (ETAC)
The ETAC is a delegated body by the Board of Engineers Malaysia as the only recognized accrediting body for engineering technology bachelor degree, engineering diploma and engineering technology diploma programmes offered in Malaysia.
The ETAC was instrumental in ensuring Malaysia’s ETAC accredited engineering technology bachelors’ degree, engineering diploma and engineering technology diploma programmes are substantially equivalent to the engineering degrees of the signatories of the Sydney Accord and Dublin Accord.

for EAC:
Professional Engineering qualification, and having
An accredited Bachelor of Engineering degree with 15 years experience in industry, after registration as Graduate Engineer, or
An accredited Bachelor of Engineering degree and at least a Master in engineering programme with 10 years experience in teaching engineering degree programme and industrial involvement after registration as Graduate Engineer.
for ETAC:
Registered Graduate Engineer/Engineering Technologist/Inspector of Works, and having
An accredited Bachelor of Engineering /Engineering Technology degree/diploma with 10 years experience in industry, or
An accredited Bachelor of Engineering/Engineering Technology degree/diploma and with 10 years experience in teaching engineering/engineering technology degree/diploma programme
