Regarding how this system works.

This system is built upon the radical idea that all sort of consonance, dissonance and tension result from diads and triads. In regard with dissonance, those four triads, that is, [0,4,8 (augment chord)], [0,1,2], [0,1,4] and [0,3,4] are responsible for dissonance in chord progressions.

For instance, CM to C#m is more dissonant than CM to C#M because of these motions:

[0,4 to 1] (0,1,4)

[4,7 to 8] (0,3,4)

[0,4 to 4,8] (0,4,8)

However, in the case of CM to C#M, every tone moves chromatically like 0,4 to 1,5 and 4,7 to 5,8 and therefore, their motions are not counted as dissonance.

If you use analyzing function in my app, dissonant degree between CM and C#m indicates “dissonant degree 3”. This is the meaning of that.
