Battle for the Voice of New Jersey

The race continues! Democratic Incumbent Tom Malinowski and Republican Challenger Thomas Kean Jr. are both in a battle for the voice of New Jersey District 7 in the 117th Congress. Currently, the Democrats gained 40 seats in Congress from the 2018 midterm elections, New Jersey's 7th district being one of them. However, this district wasn't always Democratic. Malinowski was first elected in 2018, and prior to his election, this district held a Republican seat in Congress since 1981. New Jersey's 7th district is desirable by both the Democratic and Republican parties, according to the National Republican Congress Committee. Only 2 districts in New Jersey are Republican, making it even more imperative for the Republicans to win District 7's vote if they want to have control over the state.
