NC State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Teaching Scholar in STS, empirical neuroethics, or ethics of AI at the NeuroComputational Ethics Research Group, in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, beginning August 2025.
Applicants must have a PhD in a field related to philosophy; communication, rhetoric and digital media (CRDM); bioethics; psychology; cognitive science; computer science; sociology; or Science and Technology Studies (STS). Applicant should demonstrate evidence of strong teaching and research skills.
The position entails a specific research agenda that aligns with Dr. Veljko Dubljevic's NEH grant “Embedding AI in Society Ethically ”.
The successful candidate will also pursue their own individual research agenda and be guided by Dr. Dubljevic. A research presentation given once a year will summarize progress in this arena and should result in one or more publications. This is a one-year (9-month) appointment with a possibility of renewal. Salary range is USD $49,000-$50,000. The duties and responsibilities include developing a new graduate course in Ethics of Large Language Models and in teaching undergraduate courses on STS and ethics of AI.
