Complex systems are omnipresent in nature, science and society. Mastering complex systems requires fundamental understanding of many different scientific disciplines. This makes solving problems dealing with complexity a cross-disciplinary endeavor.

The Complex Friday seminars highlight cross-disciplinary projects on complex systems, with the goal to motivate interested researchers to set up new productive collaborations. This is done using two different presentation formats:

  • Individual presentations provide a platform for researchers working on topics in complexity science to introduce themselves and their research. A significant portion of time is reserved for discussions on potential synergy with other projects or interests within the ICMS community.

  • Duo presentations give the spotlight to researchers who collaborated in interdisciplinary complexity science projects. In addition to discussing the project results, the researchers will explain how the collaboration was establish, how they experienced it and what each of them gained from the project.
