I'm in a project, where it is now happening everyday to record a videostream from a network source. For this we are utilising the VLC Player as a reasonable tool. For this we go to menu "Open Media" then choose "Network" and enter the ip address e.g. "tcp://192.168.1.200:50000". Then we press convert and select a profile and a filename, which is quite tedious to select all this options several times a day.

Multiple vulnerabilities in the Cisco WebEx Network Recording Player for Advanced Recording Format (ARF) files could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system of a targeted user. The WebEx meeting service is a hosted multimedia conferencing solution that is managed and maintained by Cisco WebEx. The ARF player is an application that is used to play back and edit ARF recording files. Successful exploitation of the most severe of these vulnerabilities could allow for arbitrary code execution. Depending on the privileges associated with the user, an attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than those who operate with administrative user rights.

Prior to 2017, NCASI utilized WebEx for its webinars. WebEx recordings are in a proprietary file format that requires downloading and installing a WebEx Player. (In 2017, NCASI switched to Zoom for hosting online meetings and webinars. Recordings of Zoom webinars are provided in the non-proprietary MP4 file format, which is handled in a variety of video players.)

Thanks for the feedback, but we have already been there and it does not really change anything. I can look back at past recordings and they are pretty much the same. Didn't matter that we had a 5 year old computer running things, or a brand new high end (i7, lots of RAM, SSD HD, 100 up/down internet) computer and networking.

What settings are they recorded at? What are they being played back on? I appreciate these may be dumb questions but what are they saved as? Are they saved as H.264 or MPEG2 or 4 or Motion JPEG or something else? Are they are being played back on large monitors or screens along with good sound from an AVR or something? What is the playback application? Windows Media Player? VLC? Via some other media player like Apple TV or Chromecast or...?

To me there are lots of moving parts in recording, saving and playing back a recording. It would be good to understand what the journey is from recording to playback before attempting any sort of diagnostics or making suggestions.

They are recorded by pressing record in the WebEx application after the meeting is started. The account has 720 selected as video option (which appears to the highest it will go). It is recorded to the WebEx account in the cloud, and played back using the streaming option available in stored recordings. If you download then you only get the presentation and any video associated with the presentation is lost. It is using the default WebEx playback via whichever web browser you are using.

We recommend you choose Record in cloud when you start recording. Cloud recordings are the MP4 format for Webex Meetings, Events, and Personal Rooms.Any Webex host can record a meeting, and only the host will have access to the recording by default. Please login to -c.webex.com, and view your recorded meetings in Recordings. After deleting a recording, your storage quota will not update until a recording has been deleted for 30 days, or after you go to Deleted and delete again.ITS reserves the right to remove recordings older than six months.Recordings downloaded from Meeting Center, Events, and Personal Rooms are now all in MP4 format. VLC player may not play all of the video in some cases; please try Windows Media Player or another that plays MP4.MP4 recordings may not contain participant lists or chat logs; please view or share the video directly from Webex to see these in the recording. If you upload your Webex MP4 recordings to Mediasite and the video does not continue after a few seconds, please rename the .mp4 to .m2ts and upload again. After stopping a recording, it may be 15 minutes before a recorded meeting is visible for playback. If you need to keep a recording for more than a few weeks, please save your recording to a local or network drive. The Webex Network Recording Player is required for playing and converting recordings if they download in the ARF format, and can be downloaded Webex for personal computers, and found in Software Center, under Tri-C Resources on employee computers if it is not already installed. You can convert recordings to other formats in the Network Recording Player through File -> Convert Format. If you are prompted to enter credentials when choosing to convert on personal computers, please visit this link for a small download that removes this popup.

Log in to -c.webex.com.Preferences on the left.Recording Options on the bottom.Check the box Create recording transcripts for all my MP4 recordings. This applies to any new recordings once enabled.Transcripts are only available for Webex meetings you choose to record, that are downloadable in the MP4 format, such as Meetings and Events.A text file (VTT format) will be available in your recording downloads. It may take up to 24 hours to be visible after the meeting ends. For more information about Webex at Tri-C, please visit: -c.edu/network/webex-for-faculty-and-staff.htmlIf you plan on downloading a copy of the Webex conversation after you have finished the meeting, and re-posting it in Blackboard through Mediasite, please upload the file to Mediasite and follow the procedures for auto-captioning: -c.edu/online-learning/technology-resources/mediasite.html

The official online forum for the Recording magazine community! This is the place to share tips and tricks, look at new gear, and ask questions about microphones, monitoring, studio acoustics, signal processing, and more...basically, all things recording studio related.

In your Webex dashboard, go to Files > Meeting Recordings. Select Download under the Options drop-down menu next to the recording you want. Name and save your file on your computer.

Session Recordings capture correctly, and they show up in the defined storage location. Can open the recordings manually and play them in the windows player just fine. However, the web and standard windows player can't find any recordings. The pages just show up empty for recordings, no search results found. I've confirmed the user has been added to the "Player" role (and all other roles, for that matter).

Hey Andrew...Check the permissions on the Share has 'everyone'. Also make sure that your path where the recordings are being saved is going to the UNC Share path (on itself) and not using the local drive path.

Just checked the recordings folder, and we already had added "Everyone" with full control/read-write over both the Share and NTFS permissions. We're using the local drive path as it's a standalone server, and we do see recordings being stored there successfully.

I think if you change it to a SHARE in the configuration (so the recorder is recording it to a share that is on it's own local drive), then the database will be able to provide the correct path for the player.

The vulnerabilities are due to insufficient validation of certain elements within a Webex recording that is stored in either the Advanced Recording Format (ARF) or the Webex Recording Format (WRF). An attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by sending a malicious ARF or WRF file to a user through a link or email attachment and persuading the user to open the file on the local system. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected system with the privileges of the targeted user.

Note that the recordings you see are limited to meetings you scheduled. If you are an alternate host for a particular meeting, you will not see its recording on your Recordings page nor will the system send you an email notification when the recording is ready even if you are the user who started the meeting or the recording. Contact the meeting scheduler if you require a recording for any meeting that you did not schedule.

With the development of science technology, Cisco WebEx makes it possible and convenient to launch an online meeting or web conferencing over long distance. You may often use WebEx network-based recording to record the whole process of important meetings. However, after recording, you will find out the WebEx recordings in ARF format are not compatible with Microsoft Media Player, QuickTime Player and iOS/Android device like iPhone 15/14/13/12/11/XS/XR/X/8/7, iPad Pro/Air/mini, iPod touch, Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, LG G5, Sony Z5, etc. You must feel confused and be eager to know how to play ARF files. In this article, we will show you what is ARF and effective way to convert ARF to MP4 for playing ARF on Windows 8/7/10, Mac OS X El Capitan10.11 and portable iOS/Android device.

ARF (WebEx Advanced Recording Format) is a file extension for the WebEx advanced recording file from a network-based recording. When you use WebEx recording function to record online conference for playback, you can directly download ARF file in WebEx's server. An ARF file carries various data from a recorded online meeting, such as video data, index and attendees list and information on other details. Every WebEx host account occupies 500 MB storage space, so that you are able to download the WebEx recordings to your computer. ARF files are natively supported by WebEx Network Recording Player. ff782bc1db
