I had a similar problem with Netbeans 12.0 on Windows. I installed the nb-javac plugin as suggested in the notifications, and then immediately after was unable to run my application. I use Java FX and Netbeans said it couldn't find the javafx.controls module. Deleting the three files from C:\Users[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\NetBeans\12.1\module worked for me too.

to open the Notification Window and click the "It is recommended to install nb-javac Library to improve Java editing experience and enable compile on save" to reinstall the nb-javac library.

Netbeans 12 Nb-javac Plugin Download

All features provided by Apache NetBeans are supported out of the box, without additional plugins needing to be installed, and all for free. Apache NetBeans 12.0 is the first LTS release of NetBeans as a top level Apache project.

I upgraded netbeans from 8.2 to 9.0-1 on 2018-10-22, then installed the nb-javac library plugin, as well as the groovy and gradle plugins, and everything seemed to work correctly (eg my gradle-based projects were recognized by netbeans).

When I upgraded from 9.0-1 to 9.0-3 today those plugins were no longer installed. I tried to install nb-javac library plugin; the plugin seems to download correctly (message: "The Netbeans IDE Installer has succesfully installed the following plugin"), however if I click on "Restart IDE now", netbeans closes but does not restart; if I start netbeans manually, the nb-javac plugin shows up as not installed in the IDE plugin manager; however ~/.netbeans/9.0/modules/ext/ does contain nb-javac-api.jar and nb-javac-impl.jar, and ~/.netbeans/9.0/modules contains the groovy and gradle plugins (all from 2018-10-22).

Also, pacman log re: upgrade of 8.2 to 9.0-1 says "[ALPM] warning: /usr/share/netbeans/etc/netbeans.conf saved as /usr/share/netbeans/etc/netbeans.conf.pacsave" but that latter file is timestamped 2016-10-10; the 9.0-1 netbeans.conf (date 2018-10-22) is in /usr/lib/netbeans/etc (btw the Arch wiki about netbeans still says /usr/share/netbeans/etc). I modified netbeans.conf to devote more memory to netbeans, and put that modified file in ~/.netbeans/9.0/etc/ as per wiki, but netbeans 9.0-3 does not seem to use it (it does not seem to use the additional memory).

I disagree. The netbeans package in community (at least 9.0-3) is broken, non-functional (see above posts). After I switched to the AUR version I noticed the community version (9.0-3) had created directories in strange places, eg netigso under ~. The apache netbeans package from the AUR is functional. Hard to blame Apache for that... I for one am not going back to the community version until I hear a credible explanation of what happened there and that it's been fixed.

Resolve "nb-javac library" Reference Problem

Check your proxy settings or try again later. The server may be

unavailable at the moment. You may also want to make sure that your

firewall is not blocking network traffic.

The network access is just fine. I was able to install some essential plugins, etc. and login to JIRA.

I then ran Netbeans from the console but there were No Messages relating to this procedure. There was an error on the CoolEditorActions plugin. I removed that reference and all I saw the same{{Resolve "nb-javac library" Reference Problem}} dialogue.

Let's start by looking at the question, what is "nb-javac"? Well, "nb-javac", which is a patched version of "javac", i.e., the Java compiler, has long been part of NetBeans, providing a highly tuned Java compiler specifically for the Java editor in NetBeans, and wasn't part of the donation of NetBeans to Apache since, of course, the Java compiler (or a fork thereof) cannot be part of the donation. That's because Oracle is not donating Java to Apache, instead, it is donating NetBeans. The Java compiler belongs to the JDK which is licensed to Oracle.

So, as can be seen, from Apache NetBeans running on JDK 9 and onwards, you have a choice: either use the Java compiler from the JDK, which means you're not benefiting from a number of enhancements especially added for NetBeans over many years in the patched Java compiler, or you need to explicitly add the patched Java compiler, since it is provided by Oracle and its licensing is such that you need to take responsibility for installing it yourself. On the other hand, if you're using Apache NetBeans with JDK 8, the choice is simpler, i.e., you need to install nb-javac, otherwise you will not be able to use Java in Apache NetBeans.

"nb-javac" is a patched version of OpenJDK "javac", i.e., the Java compiler. This has long been part of NetBeans, providing a highly tuned Java compiler specifically for the Java editor i.e., parsing and lexing for features such as syntax coloring, code completion.

The Compiler Plugin is used to compile the sources of your project. Since 3.0, the default compiler is javax.tools.JavaCompiler (if you are using java 1.6) and is used to compile Java sources. If you want to force the plugin using javac, you must configure the plugin option forceJavacCompilerUse.

In case you still have questions regarding the plugin's usage, please have a look at the FAQ and feel free to contact the user mailing list. The posts to the mailing list are archived and could already contain the answer to your question as part of an older thread. Hence, it is also worth browsing/searching the mail archive.

If you feel like the plugin is missing a feature or has a defect, you can fill a feature request or bug report in our issue tracker. When creating a new issue, please provide a comprehensive description of your concern. Especially for fixing bugs it is crucial that the developers can reproduce your problem. For this reason, entire debug logs, POMs or most preferably little demo projects attached to the issue are very much appreciated. Of course, patches are welcome, too. Contributors can check out the project from our source repository and will find supplementary information in the guide to helping with Maven.

Select Java with Maven from the Categories option and also select Java Application from Projects option as highlighted in Fig 1. The NetBeans 11 will show a message in the description section to enable appropriate plugins required for Java development, in case it's the first project. Now click the Next Button. On the next wizard, NetBeans will find the corresponding plugins required for Java development as shown in Fig 2.

Now click the Download and Activate Button to download and activate the required extensions. The next screen provides options to confirm downloading the nb-javac extension as shown in Fig 3.

I know this question has already been posted, but the solutions provided don't work for me.I added the webupd8team/java repository and installed oracle-java8-installer and oracle-java8-set-default.I downloaded netbeans 8.1 from netbeans.org (full version), installed it but when it comes to enabling the java modules it fails, showing me a list of all the modules netbeans can't enable. ff782bc1db
