NESYA

Neural Network Systems & Applications Laboratory

Welcome to the NESYA website!

NESYA is a multidisciplinary laboratory joined by professors and young researchers of the Department of Information Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications (DIET) of the University of Rome "La Sapienza". Both B.Sc. and M.Sc. students of the two Faculties of Engineering of Sapienza are also involved in NESYA during their laboratory activities and especially during their thesis period.

The reference field for the laboratory's activities is that of Computational Intelligence and Intelligent Processing of signals and data, following the paradigm of neural networks in the framework of machine learning and deep learning, with particular regard to computing architectures, learning algorithms and real-world applications in both civil and industrial contexts. NESYA boasts with its participants a proven twenty-year experience in the use of neural networks, fuzzy logic, evolutionary algorithms and quantum computing for solving both supervised and unsupervised learning problems in the application areas concerning energy, ICT, bioengineering, logistcs and transport, tourism and cultural heritage, economics, aerospace, security, health, and so on.

NESYA is a laboratory that is not associated with a single physical structure but which involves a network of collaborations among different places and entities inside and outside the university environment, combining the institutional tasks of teaching and research with the goals of third mission and technological transfer, through which knowledge and skills are developed in the field of scientific research and in that of industrial research and experimental development.

Within this site you will find the research page that illustrates the scientific topics covered in NESYA and the related theses available to students. On the events pages, the editorial and project initiatives of the laboratory are listed. The group of researchers currently carrying out the activities of NESYA is presented on the team page, while the network of collaborations in which NESYA is involved is described on the partnerships page. Details of the facilities and infrastructures used by the laboratory are listed on the contacts page.
