Nest ("we", "our", or "the app") is a parental screen-time protection app for young children. We are deeply committed to protecting your family's privacy. This policy explains what information the app handles and how.
OUR CORE PRIVACY PROMISE: Nest processes everything on your device. We do not collect, transmit, store, or share any of your data with anyone. There is no data sharing with third parties, advertisers, or any external service. The app does not require an internet connection to function, and your child's data never leaves your phone.
1. INFORMATION THE APP HANDLES
All of the following is stored only on your device, in encrypted local storage:
Face data: When you enroll your child's face, the app creates a mathematical representation (a numeric template) used to recognize them. This is stored encrypted on your device. No actual photographs are saved, and this data is never uploaded anywhere.
Parent name: Used only to personalize greetings within the app.
PIN: Stored encrypted on your device to protect access to settings.
Documents you add: Birth certificates, prescriptions, lab reports, and other documents you choose to store remain on your device only.
Vaccination reminders: Dates and details you enter are stored locally to schedule device notifications.
Usage statistics: Guard session durations are recorded locally to show you screen-time protection stats. This never leaves your device.
2. CAMERA USAGE
Nest uses your device's front camera only while Guard Mode is active. The camera feed is processed in real time on your device to detect whether the enrolled child is looking at the screen. No images or video are recorded, saved, or transmitted. When Guard Mode is off, the camera is not accessed.
3. WHAT WE DO NOT DO
We do not collect personal information.
We do not transmit any data over the internet.
We do not use cloud storage or servers.
We do not share your data with anyone — no third parties, no partners, no advertisers, ever.
We do not sell your data.
We do not use advertising or analytics trackers.
We do not record photos or video.
4. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Nest is designed to be used by parents to protect young children. Because all processing happens on-device and no data is collected or transmitted, no personal information about children is ever shared with us or any third party. The face recognition template exists solely on your device to enable the app's core function.
5. DATA SECURITY
Sensitive data such as the face template and PIN are stored using Android's encrypted storage (Android Keystore-backed encryption). Because data never leaves your device, the risk of external breaches is eliminated.
6. DATA DELETION
You are always in control of your data. You can delete all stored data at any time by:
Using the "Reset App" option within the app's settings, or
Clearing the app's data through your device settings, or
Uninstalling the app, which removes all locally stored data.
7. PERMISSIONS WE REQUEST
Camera: To detect the enrolled child's face during Guard Mode.
Display over other apps: To show the protective screen overlay across apps.
Notifications & exact alarms: To deliver vaccination reminders.
Battery optimization exemption: To keep Guard Mode running reliably in the background.
8. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
