The Etymology of Nero
The Etymology of Nero
The cat was dubbed "Nero" after a mysterious mention of the name in a confidential document that implicated it as the subject.
Unfortunately, the document only provided enough information for us to speculate the connection between the name and the cat, and it was deleted soon after discovery.
“Nero” seems to be a strange name to give to a white cat, considering it’s supposed to mean “black.” However, once we consider Nero’s behavioral patterns, it makes sense. Traditionally, black cats are associated with bad luck. This lines up with Nero’s tendency to suddenly appear before disasters, tragedies, or disappearances.
The name “Nero” likely also rings a few bells in regards to the Roman emperor that shared its name: Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus. This emperor was known best for his heavy associations with tyranny and conspiracy, a name befitting a 'mystery cat' that monitors the people.
