About the Workshop
The Nam Duck-Woo Economic Research Institute (NERI), Sogang University, and the Research Institute for Socionetwork Strategies (RISS), Kansai University, are pleased to announce the NERI–RISS Joint Workshop on Behavioral Sciences, to be held at Kansai University on December 11–12, 2026.
This workshop builds on the intellectual tradition of the workshop previously organized within the IEEE International Conference on Big Data, as listed on Professor Naoki Watanabe’s website, and aims to provide a new forum for interdisciplinary research at the intersection of social science, economics, behavioral science, data science, and computational methods.
We invite submissions from researchers working on theoretical, empirical, experimental, and computational approaches to understanding human behavior, institutions, markets, networks, and social systems.
Venue
The workshop will be held at Kansai University, Osaka, Japan. We will announce further information about the venue, accommodation, and local arrangements later.
Call for Papers
We invite extended abstracts of approximately 2–4 pages in English. The workshop will consist of invited talks, contributed presentations, and discussion sessions. Selected papers will be assigned presentation slots in the workshop program.
Topics of Interest
Submissions may address, but are not limited to, the following topics:
• Experimental economics and behavioral economics
• Market design, matching, and mechanism design
• Social networks and socionetwork strategies
• Computational social science
• Big data approaches to social and economic behavior
• AI, human–AI interaction, and decision-making
• Online experiments, field experiments, and laboratory experiments
• Behavioral data, digital trace data, and social sensing
• Institutional design and policy experiments
• Network formation, diffusion, cooperation, and collective action
• Social simulations and agent-based modeling
• Data-driven approaches to public policy and social systems
• Interdisciplinary methods connecting economics, sociology, psychology, political science, information science, and data science
Both theoretical and applied contributions are welcome. We particularly encourage submissions that combine rigorous social science questions with innovative empirical, experimental, or computational methods.
