The fields of Molecular biology and Evolutionary biology have been traditionally treated as distinct disciplines. However, the evolution of molecules and their divergence is deeply intertwined with the evolution of populations, and thus it is essential to study biological processes from both a molecular and evolutionary perspective to avoid having just a reductionist perspective. Internationally, this integration of molecular biology and evolutionary biology has gained momentum, but in India, this field of combined expertise is still new.
