Kailee Heinecke is a graduate of the University of Memphis where she received a Bachelor’s degree in violin performance with an emphasis in pedagogy. While in attendance, she performed with four symphonies in three states, and she had her debut solo performance with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. Kailee is currently a sub in the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra while being a full time private music teacher with Nels Bells studio.
Clayton Heinecke is the choir and orchestra director at Morgantown High School. He is a graduate of WVU with a Master’s degree in viola performance and a graduate of the University of Memphis with a Bachelor’s degree in music education. He has performed with professional symphonies in Mississippi, Arkansas, and West Virginia. He has been hired as both a Teaching Fellow and Strings Assistant at Interlochen Center for the Arts, and he spent two years as the viola graduate assistant at WVU under Professor Andrea Houde.
Morgan Blanks is from Woodbridge, VA where she started playing cello in 5th grade. She is a graduate of West Virginia University, where she earned her Bachelor of Music Education, Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, and a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics.
During her career, she has studied cello with Dr. Erin Ellis, upright bass with Dr. Andrew Kohn, and conducting with Dr. Mitchell Arnold and Dr. Kym Scott. Morgan performs with the Monongalia Symphony Orchestra as assistant principal as well as with the studio quartet. In addition to teaching private lessons for cello, bass, viola, and violin, Morgan offers private math tutoring to students of all ages.
Ty Jaquay has been teaching private violin, viola, and cello lessons full time since 2014. Passionate about teaching as a child, he taught family members, friends, and neighborhood kids. Aside from teaching, Ty started performing professionally at the age of 13 at local churches, parks, and local stages. Since then, he has the opportunity to perform on many stages including The Sydney Opera House, the Purple Fiddle, Woodsongs, Songs of the Mountains, and Mountain Stage. Ty live a life that is dedicated to music. As his grandmother would say, "There is music in everything we do. We just have to listen for it".
Catherine Baker is a graduate of West Virginia University, where she earned a Bachelor of Music Education. She earned her Master's in Educational Leadership from University of Texas at Arlington. In 2021, Catherine was awarded the WV String Teachers Association Outstanding Studio Teacher award. Catherine teaches group classes in Morgantown and Wheeling and has taught grades 3-12 in the public schools. She currently teaches at Moundsville Middle School and directs the Wheeling Youth Symphony Sinfonietta.
Trixie Calissie, a senior majoring in Music Education from Wheeling, WV, serves as the President of the Collegiate National Association for Music Education and the Vice President of the American String Teachers Association. She is also involved with Sigma Alpha Professional Agricultural Sorority and the WVU Collegiate 4-H Club. In addition to her roles as a Music Education Peer Mentor and fundraising chair, Trixie participates in the Honors College and performs with the WVU Symphony Orchestra and Steel Band. She is a dedicated community volunteer, she teaches music lessons at Nels Bells Music Studio and serves as a camp counselor for Marshall County 4-H. She is sponsored by the WVU Chapter of Collegiate National Association for Music Education.
Elyssa Allen is from North Canton, Ohio and has played the viola since the 4th grade. She recently graduated from West Virginia University where she earned a Bachelor's of Music and studied with Andrea Houde. She also studied under Dr. Roger Zahab at the University of Pittsburgh for two years. Elyssa plays in professional ensembles across OH, MD, PA, and WV and has taught private lessons to students aged kindergarten through adult since 2019. She plays violin, trombone, and piano as well. Elyssa has also completed a degree in environmental geoscience from WVU and is currently pursuing a masters in Civil and Environmental Engineering. She plans to pursue a masters in viola performance in the near future.
Ivan Law is an African-American Cellist from Los Angeles, California, and is currently based in Morgantown, West Virginia. He holds a Master's Degree in cello performance from West Virginia University (WVU), where he held the position of the Cello Studio Graduate Assistant. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in cello performance from the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB). His previous teachers include Dr. Erin Ellis, Jennifer Kloetze, and Thomas Mesa.
Ivan has performed with various chamber groups, including the UCSB Undergraduate Honors String Quartet and the Montani String Quartet at WVU. As a chamber musician, he has performed a wide variety of repertoire ranging from classical to contemporary, including the works of Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, Caroline Shaw, Andrea Casarrubios, and more. In August of 2022, he had the opportunity to perform in a string quartet at the Kotor Art Festival in Kotor, Montenegro, and at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California, debuting four new works for String Quartet and performing two pieces by Joseph Haydn and Antonín Dvořák.
Ivan has also performed in various orchestras in Santa Barbara, including the UCSB Chamber Orchestra, Westmont College Orchestra, Santa Barbara Chamber Players Orchestra, and the Santa Barbara Solstice Chamber Orchestra. In the greater Morgantown area, Ivan has performed in the Washington Symphony Orchestra, the Monongalia Symphony Orchestra, and the WVU Symphony Orchestra.
Ivan has had the opportunity to play in masterclasses with world-renowned artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Alisa Weilerstein, Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Isata Kanneh-Mason, Angela Park, Caroline Shaw, the Danish String Quartet, the Juilliard String Quartet, the Brentano String Quartet, and the Attacca String Quartet.
Ana Lasker is a music education major, violinist, and fiddle player from Morgantown, WV. She is currently pursuing her degree in music education at West Virginia University. Ana started playing violin at age 11, and was a student of Mr. Ty Jaquay for 9 years. A four-time member of the WVMEA All-State Orchestra, Ana now enjoys helping students prepare for their All-State auditions. She has had experience with elementary and high school strings, as well as being a residence counselor at Lutheran Summer Music. She currently studies violin with Professor Mary Grace Johnson at WVU. Ana is a current member of the WVU Symphony Orchestra and the WVU Bluegrass and Old-Time Band.
