It's a space for me to share my research, and stay connected, regardless of my current affiliation, which changes often.
I'm an English linguist, having received my PhD in English Linguistics at Lund University in 2019. Since 2021 I've been working on the Fakespeak project, based at the University of Oslo. I'm also affiliated with Lund University through my work on the London-Lund Corpus 2 (LLC-2) of spoken British English.
My research follows two main directions in English Linguistics: the language of fake news and spoken language. To find out more, please see my CV. I cover fake news in my blog on Implicit Deception.
I'm passionate about academic integrity, open access (see my OSF repository below), all things Fediverse and the next generation of linguists and linguistics.
In my free time, I like to see the world, learn new languages and read books (pretty standard stuff).
News and updates:
April 2025: We wrote an encyclopedia chapter on corpus linguistics and fake news. If you don't have institutional access, just send me an email or request a copy via ResearchGate. Among other things, we suggest a revised definition of 'misinformation' to allow for combined analyses with 'disinformation'.
March 2025: No Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) postdoc for me this year. I did, however, receive their Seal of Excellence, awarded to "high-quality project proposals in a highly competitive evaluation process". I will continue looking for funding for my project on mental health advice and misinformation in short-form videos.
February 2025: This year has got off to a really good start: two of my co-authored publications on spoken constructions have just seen the light of day. Find them here and here, and in my CV. Please enjoy the wonderful world of open access publishing!
