I have to agree with you here. When you add a folder to djay you have to manually tap on each track to download it and sometimes some of the folders on iCloud are just empty even though you are 100% sure they have tracks.

This video is to demonstrate to Algoriddim (and those who are interested) that the beatgrid of djay Pro really does not function as is epxected.

Let me mention that on iOS I think djay is the best software for ad hoc mixing. So this is clearly no bashing video.

And on a personal note I think djay 2 was the best looking djay software period.

But the moment you want to visually mix and you go beyond auto analyzation of the track or take a slightly more complex track it will fall short.

This track is 100BPM steady throughout the entire track (I show that in Traktor Pro and double checked it in Ableton Live suite). So Algoriddim this is not a case of different bpm regions or something among that line.

I use the djay Conversion Utility ( -5Fdw8XY) to convert the cues and beatgrid start from TraktorPro to djay Pro.

Since the loadcue (the white dot) and the beatgrid start are at the same time index I know the beatgrid was set correctly, djay Pro just refuses to use it.

The top six rows map perfectly to every djay Looper slot and LEDs give proper feedback for loops that are playing or not (colors can be picked for both playback states or LEDs off if you like). The bottom 2 rows map perfectly to the number of samples available in djay. I just have to load loops and samples in djay and start punching pads to play.

One solution if djay users want to carry on using a streaming service is to transfer to Tidal or Soundcloud Go!+, both of which are supported by djay. An extra benefit of doing this is that these two services are rapidly becoming ubiquitous in DJ software, so arguably they are a safer bet longer-term anyway.
