Stef Mitchell

Using the historical process of nature printing, Stef works with local landscapes and plantings to record the organic accident and intentional mark. Her work the records natural forms from plants and feathers she has gathered from around her studio at Staithes and recently from the Walled Garden and Parkland at Scampston Hall where she has been artist in residence of the past 18 months. Gathered plants and foliage are put into flower presses and used to make nature mono prints. This process ensures that each piece is entirely unique.

Having completed a degree in Film, Photography and Sound, Stef continued her post graduate studies at Goldsmiths University, followed by a second degree in Fine Art. She now exhibits nationally and internationally and recently had work in the New Lights Prize Exhibition.
