After 25 plus years of experience with insurance broking and risk management, Neil Mitchell changed his focus to entrepreneurship.
In 2018, Neil Mitchell co-founded Player’s Health, an early stage company specializing in insurance solutions and risk management services for athletes and sports organizations. As co-founder, he raised capital from angel investors and venture capitalists, attracted talent, developed partnerships with name brands, secured re/insurance capacity, and built revenue producing relationships with clients.
A passionate endurance athlete, having completed two Ironmans, Neil was able to bring this passion together with his role as co-founder and investor in Player’s Health. In so doing, he combined his love of sports with decades of experience in insurance and risk management to create a business that could do good for others and to do it well.
While at Player’s Health Neil served as an Advisor to the Founder/CEO, Board Member and President of Risk Services and Insurance Solutions. Following his tenure in an operating capacity at Player’s Health Neil built upon this start up success and experience to go onto mentor, advise and invest in a number of early and emerging stage Insurtech founder-led companies. Although no longer involved in the operations of Player’s Health Neil remains an advocate, promoter, investor and shareholder in the company.
While working for Marsh Canada from 1991 to 2017, Neil worked as a manager and leader, ultimately becoming a member of the company’s National Executive & Management Committees and the National Practice Leader for Marsh Canada’s Consumer & Commercial Practice. He developed many leadership and management skills while at Marsh Canada, including business strategy, client management, business development, program/product development, and retail and third-party distribution.
Neil has completed Ironman Canada and Ironman USA. As a cyclist and supporter and promoter of community causes, he has participated in the Ride for Mental Health, Tour for Kids – Ontario, the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride - Coast to Coast Ride Against Cancer Foundation and The Jim Abernethy Challenge.
