Effective Date: 2026-04-02
This privacy policy applies to the Nedz app (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices, created by Liyan Homsi (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as a Free service. This service is intended for use "AS IS."
Nedz is a specialized accessibility and communication tool designed for children of all ages (including Ages 5 & Under, 6–8, and 9–12+) specifically designed for Verbal and Pre-verbal children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The Application is also optimized for individuals with other communication disorders, including Apraxia, Non-verbal learning disabilities, and hearing or speech impairments. We strictly comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Google Play Families Policy.
Parental & Caregiver Role: Because the Application serves as an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) tool, we require that account setup and sensitive features—such as uploading photos for the personal Dictionary or sharing profiles—be managed by a parent, legal guardian, or authorized caregiver. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without this parental guidance.
Data Minimization: We collect only the minimum data necessary (Nickname, Age range, and progress metrics) to support the child’s communication goals and emotional development.
Parental Control: Parents and guardians maintain full ownership of the data. You have the right to review, update, or request the permanent deletion of any information provided by contacting us at get.our.support@gmail.com .
For a better experience, the Service Provider requires you to provide certain personally identifiable information, which is stored securely via Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, and Storage):
Parental Information: Email address (used for account management and security).
Child Profile: Nickname and Age range (used to personalize the educational experience).
User-Generated Content (Photos): The Application allows the upload of photos to building a personal "Dictionary." These photos are stored in Firebase Storage.
Note: These photos are for the child's private use. Parents are responsible for the content the child uploads and are encouraged to ensure no identifiable faces are included for maximum privacy.
Developmental Analytics: The Application tracks the frequency of selected emotions and interaction percentages (clicks). This data is used to generate a Visual Emotion Graph for parents, allowing them to monitor the child's emotional trends and progress over time.
The Application utilizes on-device machine learning for functional features including Speech-to-Text (transcription), Text-to-Speech, and Image Labeling (object recognition).
This processing happens locally on the device.
We do not send raw audio or unlabelled images to external AI service providers.
Only the resulting text labels or transcripts are saved to the cloud profile to enhance the educational experience.
Only aggregated, anonymized data is periodically transmitted to external services to aid in improving the Application. The Application utilizes the following third-party service:
Google Analytics for Firebase: Used to monitor app stability and general usage patterns. We ensure that this service is configured to comply with children's privacy regulations (no advertising identifiers are collected).
The Service Provider will retain User Provided data for as long as you use the Application.
User Right to Delete: You may delete your data at any time. If you wish to delete account data provided via the Application, please contact nedz.support@gmail.com. We will respond and process the deletion in a reasonable timeframe.
To ensure a safe and supportive educational environment for children, the Service Provider maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding inappropriate content.
User Responsibility: Users (parents and guardians) are solely responsible for all content, including photos and text, uploaded to the Application's "Dictionary" or Profile sections.
Prohibited Content: Uploading images that are illegal, predatory, violent, or otherwise inappropriate for a child-focused application is strictly prohibited.
Right to Moderate: While we respect the private nature of your child’s educational data, the Service Provider reserves the right to review reported content and immediately terminate or delete any account found to be in violation of these safety standards.
Data Removal: Upon termination for a policy violation, all associated data, including photos stored in Firebase Storage and profile information in Firestore, will be permanently deleted from our servers.
We are concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. We utilize Firebase’s secure infrastructure to provide electronic and procedural safeguards to protect the information we process and maintain.
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. Continued use is deemed approval of all changes.
If you have any questions regarding privacy or the practices of this Application, please contact the Service Provider at get.our.support@gmail.com.
