PRIVACY POLICY
Nearo — Last updated 2 October 2026
Nearo has no user accounts and no servers of its own. We never sell your personal
information. Everything the app remembers — your blocked numbers, your reports, your
settings — stays on your phone and is deleted when you uninstall the app. The one
exception is advertising measurement, which is described below.
WHAT THE APP ACCESSES
Location
Nearo asks for location permission ("while using the app") because the radar screen
cannot work without knowing where you are. Your location is used on your device to
centre the map and to calculate distance and direction to the entries shown on the radar.
One thing does leave your device: to estimate how busy the area around you is, the app
sends your approximate coordinates and the selected scan radius to the public
OpenStreetMap Overpass API. No identifier, account or device ID is sent with it — only
the coordinates and the radius. Map tiles are likewise requested from the OpenStreetMap
tile servers, which means those servers see which map area you are looking at, together
with your IP address, as with any map application.
We do not store your location anywhere. We have no server, and nothing about your
location is written down, logged or shared by us.
Incoming call numbers
If you choose Nearo as your call-screening app, Android passes the number of an incoming
call to Nearo so it can be compared against your own block list. This comparison happens
entirely on your device. The number is never uploaded, never stored beyond the
comparison, and never shared.
Nearo does not request access to your contacts and cannot read them.
Your block list and reports
Numbers you block or report are stored only on your device. They are not sent to us or
to anyone else. You can delete all of them at any time with Spam > Clear my list, and
they are removed completely when you uninstall the app.
Settings
Your theme, language and remaining daily scan count are stored on your device so they
survive a restart. Nothing else is kept.
WHAT THE APP DOES NOT DO
- No account, sign-up, email address or phone number is required or collected.
- No access to your contacts, photos, messages, call history or files.
- No crash-reporting SDK.
- Your data is never sold.
- Nothing you see or do on the radar screen is sent anywhere.
- No profile about you is built from your use of the app.
ABOUT THE ENTRIES SHOWN ON THE RADAR
The people, businesses and phone numbers that appear on the radar screen are simulated.
They are generated by the app on your device and do not represent real people or real
locations. The phone numbers are deliberately generated so that they cannot belong to
anyone: they are one digit longer than a real number in your country, which makes them
impossible to dial.
Nearo does not look up, buy or hold any database of real people or real phone numbers.
ADVERTISING MEASUREMENT
Nearo is advertised on Meta platforms (Facebook and Instagram). To see whether those ads
work, the app includes the Meta SDK, which sends a small number of measurement events to
Meta:
- when the app is opened, including the first time after you install it;
- when a Premium subscription is completed, together with its amount and currency.
These events are linked to your device's Google advertising ID, a resettable identifier,
so that Meta can tell an installation came from one of our ads. We do not send your name,
phone number, email address, location, block list, or anything you see or do on the radar
screen.
You can stop this at any time: in Android Settings > Privacy > Ads you can delete your
advertising ID, after which no identifier is available to the SDK.
See the Meta Privacy Policy: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy
THIRD PARTIES
OpenStreetMap (tile servers and the Overpass API) — receives the approximate coordinates
and scan radius described above, plus your IP address, as part of the network request.
Meta Platforms (Facebook) — receives the advertising measurement events described above,
together with your advertising ID and IP address. See:
https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy
Google Play Billing — handles subscription purchases. Payment details are processed by
Google; we never see or store your card, billing address or payment information. The app
only reads whether your subscription is currently active.
SUBSCRIPTIONS
Premium is an optional subscription sold through Google Play (weekly, monthly or
3-month). Spam call blocking is free and does not require a subscription. You can cancel
at any time from the Google Play app; cancelling is handled entirely by Google and we are
not involved in it.
CHILDREN
Nearo is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.
YOUR CHOICES
Stop sharing location: revoke the location permission in Android Settings > Apps > Nearo
> Permissions. The radar will stop working; the spam blocking screen continues to work.
Stop call screening: choose a different call-screening app in Android Settings, or turn
off protection inside Nearo.
Delete everything: use Spam > Clear my list, or uninstall the app. Because nothing is
stored outside your device, uninstalling removes all of it. There is no server-side copy
for us to delete, and no deletion request is necessary.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address and the date at
the top will be updated. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on
Google Play.
