Surface damage and microstructural evolution in nanostructured bainitic steel.
Nanostructured bainitic steel exhibits high tensile strength and sufficient fracture toughness compared to other steel grades due to its combination nanoscale morphology of bainitic ferrite and retained austenite. Due to excellent mechanical properties, it finds application in structural, offshore, automobile and defense areas. During operation, materials undergo severe damage due to loading or environmental conditions. My work focuses on investigating the surface damage in nanostructured bainitic steels thereby examining the evolved microstructure.
