About NIT Puducherry

National Institute of Technology Puducherry, Karaikal (NITPY), is a rapidly growing autonomous public educational institution of technical education and is striding ahead in establishing high research potential in enrich areas and quality higher learning, under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It is nestled in the panoramic scenes of Karaikal, a coastal enclave in the basin of river Kaveri in the Union Territory of Puducherry.
The institute was established in 2010 under the Eleventh Five Year Plan, sanctioned by the Government of India in 2009. The institute is one among the 31 National Institutes of Technology of India and is declared as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India under NIT Act, 2007.
The Institute serves the nation with the vision : To be among leading Indian Institutes for Excellent, Relevant, and value based Technical Education and Research.












About the Department of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics is one of the pioneering departments of the institution and is equipped with strongly motivated and dedicated faculty members. It was established in 2010 and has always contributed to the vision of the institute in striving for excellence in teaching and research activities.
The department plays an important role to hone the students with a strong basic concept of mathematics of various B.Tech. and M.Tech. Programmes of the institute and flare up a passion of enquiry within them. The department also offers Ph.D. Programmes in various fields of Mathematics and interdisciplinary areas.
In the pursuit for research, the Faculty members of the department have covered a vast area such as Reliability, Fuzzy set theory, Intuitionistic Fuzzy set, Bio-Mathematics, Inventory management, Soft Computing, Differential Equations, Fractional Calculus, Mathematical Control Theory, Numerical Analysis, Integral Equations.
The objective of the department is to endeavour for excellence in research and to impart high quality education, so as to transform the young technocrats and scholars into competent and motivated professionals.
