Donations

"Hey Simon! Can I donate to your nomination campaign?" This is tricky; the short answer is "No, but thank you." 

I'm not accepting donations during the nomination contest. They aren't tax-deductible for you, and I think spending a lot of money creates barriers that hurt democracy. Also, a report from earlier this year said nomination campaigns don't have enough oversight to prevent foreign interference. If you think I'm the best candidate, there are many other ways you can support me without giving money.

You may ask how I will finance this nomination contest in the absence of donations. I intend to use existing tools that I have access to, or no-cost services. For example, this website has been built on Google Sites. It's basic and limited, but seems to be getting the job done. This choice also forced me to learn the tool. I've been holding onto the domain name since my municipal election campaign in 2022. Usually, I point it at a Substack newsletter. 

Even though I'm not accepting donations, please consider giving to the Green Party of Canada. Whether it's 2024 or 2025, we'll need all the resources we can get to show Canadians that Green candidates are the best choice. Plus, donations to the GPC are tax-deductible.
