Frequently Asked Questions
Can I walk in to an NBI office without an online appointment?
No. Online registration and appointment booking are required for all regular applicants before any office visit. Walk-in applications are no longer entertained at NBI branches across the Philippines.
Can someone else claim my NBI clearance on my behalf?
No. The applicant must appear in person because clearance issuance is tied to biometric verification. Authorization letters are not accepted under any circumstance.
Can foreign nationals living in the Philippines apply for NBI clearance?
Yes. Foreign nationals can apply by presenting their passport and Alien Certificate of Registration, also known as the ACR I-Card, at their scheduled appointment.
Can one NBI clearance be submitted to multiple employers?
Yes. A single clearance is valid for all purposes throughout its one-year period. You do not need a separate clearance for each employer or agency you submit it to.
What happens if I miss my appointment?
Missed appointments are non-refundable. You will need to rebook and pay the fee again. Only finalize your booking when you are fully certain you can attend on that specific date.
Is the NBI clearance process the same for OFWs?
Yes, the steps are identical. OFWs should select OFW or Abroad as their stated purpose when filling out the application form. The fee is the same at PHP 130 plus the applicable service charge.
