Star Wars Destiny is a collectible card and dice game published by Fantasy Flight Games. In Star Wars Destiny you choose to play either Heroes or Villains, assemble a small team of Star Wars characters from across the Star Wars films, shows, and expanded universe, and do battle. Players alternate taking actions with the overall goal of defeating their opponent's characters. The player with the last character on the board is the winner.
Star Wars Destiny is similar in concept to Magic: the Gathering, with a different style of fast-paced, dice-based gameplay and a strong Star Wars theme. Although the game uses dice, one of the key themes to success will be learning how to appropriately respond to your dice rolls, when to use abilities to mitigate them, and when to disrupt your opponent's dice rolls. Several prominent board game reviewers called Star Wars Destiny one of the best new games of 2016 when it was released.
Fantasy Flight has created a fifteen minute gameplay tutorial video:
This will be a limited pool league. If you've played in one of our Magic: the Gathering leagues, the format should be familiar.
Every participant will open the same number of the same type of packs each week. Participants are allowed to trade to their heart's content within the league, but the most important rule is that you cannot bring any cards in from outside the league card pool. Unless you got it by opening it in a pack in the league, it's not legal.
The league will run for 7 weeks, and by the end of it, each of us will have opened 1 Rey starter set, 1 Kylo Ren starter set, 5 packs of Awakening, 5 packs of Spirit of Rebellion, and 5 packs of the latest set, Empire at War. Each week, we will bring a standard 30 card deck to the weekly league night and play for league standings. Prizes will be awarded to the victors at the end of the league. Exact prizes will be determined after we have final membership numbers.
In between the weekly game nights, players are encouraged to play as many casual games against other league members as they like, in order to tweak and hone their decks, and have fun playing casual Destiny. These games don't count for league standings, and are just for practice and fun.
This is a very casual-friendly format, perfect for those who have never played Star Wars Destiny, for those who only play casually, or for those who like Destiny, but don't want to get too deep into yet another collectible card game. Because everyone is on an even footing, this type of league is also great for experts.
League entry will cost $64 per person. This league entry will include:
In order to make the league economical for all participants, the league will be prepaid. Each participant will pay all dues up front, before the league begins. This is also convenient if you have to miss a week or two. When you come back, your packs will be waiting for you.
Each league night will take place at Nu Brand Gaming, 194 31st Street, Brooklyn, NY, 11232.
Nu Brand is accessible from the D/N/R trains at the 36th Street stop in Brooklyn. Nu Brand is a welcoming, vibrant tabletop gaming community of gamers who play card games, board games, miniature wargames, and roleplaying games in an exclusive hand-carved wooden club space.
Entry to Nu Brand is free for members, and $10 for non-members. Membership is $30 per month. Since the league will run for seven weeks, membership is highly encouraged. You can sign up for a membership here.
Each week's league night will officially start at 6pm, with an hour before each tournament for open play and trading. Each week's tournament will start at 7pm, and last until 10pm. The club will then be open until 11pm for open play and trading.

Week 5 (Wednesday, 10/25)

Decks must follow all published Fantasy Flight deckbuilding rules. These rules are included with the starter sets, so all players will have a copy.
Each player must bring a team of characters, a 30 card deck, 1 battlefield card, and all dice corresponding to their chosen cards to each tournament.
Each player must bring a team of characters, a 30 card deck, 1 battlefield card, and all dice corresponding to their chosen cards to each tournament, as described above.
Dice do not have to be revealed before their corresponding cards are played.
League standings will be determined by Match Win Percentage (MWP) as adjusted by Attendance.
Match Win Percentage = [Number of Matches Won] ÷ [Number of Matches Played]
Attendance Adjustment = ( [Matches Attended] - [Lowest Amount of Matches Attended Amongst League Participants] ) / 100
For example, if Joe has played 10 matches, and won 8 of them, his Match Win Percentage would be 80%. If Tim has played 6 matches and won 5 of them, his Match Win Percentage would be 83%.
To figure out Joe's attendance adjustment, we need to figure out who in the league has attended the least matches. If Joe has attended 10 league matches, and Tim has attended only 6 league matches (which is the fewest in the league), Joe's attendance adjustment will be 4% ((10-6)÷100), and Tim's adjustment will be 0% ((6-6)÷100).
Even though Tim's MWP is higher, at 83%, because of the Attendance adjustment, Joe would be ahead of him in the league with an 84% adjusted total.
