Practice analysis performs a fundamental role in developing valid licensure and certification assessment tools.6 Knapp and Knapp7 define practice analysis as a systematic collection of data describing the knowledge, skills, and/or competencies required to practice a profession. The practice analysis is conducted to inquire about the work performed by professionals to document tasks essential to practice.2,8 As a process of obtaining information about professions, practice analysis is the most widely used organizational data collection technique.9 Practice analysis helps to establish test validity by creating a profile of the profession, tracking trends in professional practice, and providing information vital to the development and refinement of professional programs. It also identifies current practice standards while anticipating future change.

Cultural competence necessitates compassion to the uniqueness of religions, customs, and spiritual needs. It also requires an understanding of patient wishes, preferences, and developmental needs. Cultural competence enables health care practitioners to elicit distinct information that is unique to the client to make accurate diagnoses and develop and implement client-centered interventions. Cultural competence increases client and family satisfaction, facilitates positive clinical outcomes, and expands client involvement. Thus, cultural competence should be included as a skill set for health care practitioners. ff782bc1db
