Hello! I am a Lewis Lecturer at the University of Kentucky's Lewis Honors College. I have a  Ph.D. in Political Science from Texas Tech University.

I research international security, geopolitical risks of doing business, civil-military relations, immigration, etc.  I have written op-ed pieces for TRTWorld, Newsweek, Forbes, The National Interest, Daily Sabah, OpenDemocracy, etc.

My dissertation project has created a new dataset of foreign-imposed alliance treaties (FIAT). It demonstrates that a) contrary to received wisdom, alliances could be coerced; b) can serve as tools for managing the domestic affairs of the weaker state; and c) can act as a lock-in strategy for the desired policy outcome of the major powers. This research project answers the puzzle that why we often see the emergence of authoritarian governments after interventions.
