The Ocean's Burden

I stepped into the water, it was cold to the touch.
The water receded back and forth like a fighter testing the waters.
The water buried my foot slowly into the sand.
Then suddenly crashed upon me, enveloping my entire body.
It pulled me into its dark embrace, welcoming me into its violent territory.
Inside the water I saw corpses, plastic bottles, nets.
The ocean had carried on all of humanity's responsibilities.
And as a result dragged me to its depths.
