PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: This is an estate lying 35 kilometres north-east of Pune. A letter of the family dated 1510A.D. mentions that the ancestor of the family left his native place of Dabhoi in Gujarat and came down to the Deccan. It from this place, Dabhoi that the family took the surname Dabhade. The family enjoy the rank of First Class Sardars in the Deccan. Rulers were....

Yesajirao Dabhade, he served as Bodyguard of Shrimant Chhattrapati Shivaji Maharaj Shahaji Maharaj Bhosale, the Great Maratha Warrior, married Valahibaisaheb, and had issue, two sons. He died 28th November 1699 at Fort Panhala in Maharashtra.

Shrimant Sardar Khanderao Dabhade I, Sarsenapati 1717/1729; a famous Maratha General, he was granted the hereditary title of Sarsenapati on 11th January 1717 by Chhattrapati Shahu Maharaj Bhosale of Satara; married 1stly, Udabaisaheb, had issue, two daughters, married 2ndly, Parvatibaisaheb, died sp, married 3rdly, Umabaisaheb, daughter of Abhonkar Devrao Thoke-Deshmukh, she became the only female Commander-in-Chief in the history of the Marathas in 1732, and fought a war near Ahmedabad at Fort Bhadra defeating Mughal Sardar Joravar Khan Babi, for which she was granted the hereditary honour of wearing the Gold Toda (Anklet) on the feet by Shrimant Chhattrapati Shahu Maharaj Bhosale of Satara, a tradition continued to this day within the family, she had issue, three sons and three daughters and died 28th November 1753 at Nadgemodi in Pune; and had issue, three sons and five daughters. He died 27th September 1729 at the Old Rajwada in Talegaon Dabhade.

He was killed sp 1st April 1731 in the Battle of Dabhoi.

Shrimant Sardar Trimbakrao Dabhade II, Sarsenapati 1754/1799, he took part in the Third Battle of Panipat on 14th January 1761; married 1stly, Mainabaisaheb, daughter of the Nimbalkar-Dharrao family in Kolhapur, had one daughter, married 2ndly, Lakshmibaisaheb, daughter of Abhonkar Harisingh Balwantrao Thoke-Deshmukh, had one son, and had issue, one son and one daughter, as well as an adoptive son. He died 1799.

Shrimant Sardar Khanderao Dabhade II, Sarsenapati 1870/1915, born as Amrutrao Mahipatrao Puar, brother of Anandibaisaheb, second wife of his adoptive father, he took the name of Khanderao Dabhade II after his adoption; he was the Founder President of the Talegaon Dabhade Municipal Council; married Rajasbaisaheb, daughter of the Amir-ul-Umrah Ghorpade family of Madhyal, and had issue, one son. He died 21st February 1915 at the New Rajwada in Talegaon Dabhade.
