PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: A major town southeast of Udaipur, it was the estate of Kunwar Khandal Singh, who, with the title of 'Rawat', held first rank amongst the nobles of Mewar (the First 16 Umraos), it later became the capital of the Chundawat clan. Rulers and estate holders were ....

1. Rawat CHUNDA SINGH, 1st Rawat of Salumber, eldest son and heir of Maharana Lakha of Mewar, he renounced his claim to the throne of Mewar in favour of his younger brother, but continued to serve the house of Mewar with utmost loyalty throughout his life, for which the Rawats of Salumber were honoured by being authorised by the Maharana to sign all important documents of State on his behalf; he married and had issue.

2. Rawat KANDHAL SINGH I, 2nd Rawat of Salumber, married and had issue. He died after 1473.

   • Kunwar Siha Singh, he was granted the Thikana of Amet and succeded there as Rawat Siha Singh, Rawat Saheb of Amet.

   • Kunwar Sanga Singh, he was granted the Thikana of Deogarh and succeded there as Rawat Sanga Singh, Rawat Saheb of Deogarh.

3. Rawat RATAN SINGH I, 3rd Rawat of Salumber, married and had issue. He died 17th march 1527 at Khanwa.

4. Rawat DUDA SINGH, 4th Rawat of Salumber, was killed in battle against Nawab Bahadur Shah of Gujarat.

5. Rawat SAIN DAS, 5th Rawat of Salumber, died 24th February 1568 at Chittor.

6. Rawat KHENGAR, 6th Rawat of Salumber, married and had issue, eighteen sons.

7. Rawat KISHAN DAS, 7th Rawat of Salumber, he opted to remain at Salumber and looked after his right of 'Banj Garh',
   which entitled him to sign state documents of Mewar on behalf of the Maharana; he married and had issue.

    • Kunwar Ror Singh, he was granted the jagir of Satola and succeded there as Rawat Ror Singh, 1st Rawat Sahib of Satola.

              • Kunwar Bhupal Singh, adopted by Rawat Umaid Singh of Bhadesar and succeded there as Rawat Bhupal Singh, 4th Rawat Sahib of Bhadesar, married and had issue.

                • Kunwar Inder Singh of Bhadesar, born 24th August 1875, adopted by Rawat Pratap Singh of Bhainsrorgarh, and succeded there as Rawat Inder Singh of Bhainsrorgarh.

                • Kunwar Tej Singh of Bhadesar, adopted by Rawat Jodh Singh II of Salumber (see below), but died at an early age before succeeding there.

                • Kunwar Man Singh of Bhadesar, he also was adopted into Salumber, but was overlooked in the succession there.

        • Kunwar Hamir Singh, adopted by Rawat Bhairav Singh of Bhadesar and succeded there as Rawat Hamir Singh, 2nd Rawat Sahib of Bhadesar, married and had issue. He died 1855.

          • Rawat Umaid Singh, 3rd Rawat Sahib of Bhadesar 1855/-, adopted Kunwar Bhupal Singh of Chavand (see above), married and had adoptive issue. He died sp.

25. Rawat ONAR SINGH, 25th Rawat of Salumber 1901/-, born 1864, married and had adoptive issue. He died 1930.

26. Rawat Shri KHUMAN SINGH, 26th Rawat of Salumber 1930/1980, born 14th March 1912 as Kunwar Khuman Singh, younger son of Rawat Inder Singh of Bhainsrorgarh, he succeeded by adoption to Salumber, educated at Mayo College, Ajmer; married 1928, and had issue. He died 14th January 1980.

    • Kumari Hem Kanwar (+), married Thakur Raaj Singh (+) of Jaswadi near Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh, and had issue, a son and three daughters.

27. Rawat NIRBHAY SINGH, 27th Rawat of Salumber 1980/2002, born 1st June 1958, married 29th January 1983, Rajkumari Gayatri Kumari of Bhinga, and had issue. He died 27th May 2002.
