PRESENT RULER:

PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: Pethapur State, consisting of the town of Pethapur and two villages on the Sabarmati River in the Sabar Kantha District has an area of 5,500 bighas under tillage and is a Fourth Class State. The Thakors are Vaghela Rajputs descending from a branch of the Vaghela sovereigns of Anhilvada Patan (ruled 1130/1298). Siramshi or Sarangdev, one of the two sons of Raja Karandev, the last Raja of Patan, was allowed the town of Kalol and surrounding villages as an estate. Descended from him in the 10th generation, was Hematji, who, in 1445, by killing his maternal uncle Pitaji of the Gohil Rajputs, took possession of his estate, called Pethapur after him. • Thakore Shri GAMBHIRSINHJI HIMATSINHJI Sahib, Thakore Saheb of Pethapur 1879/1896, born 1874, succeeded 13th January 1879 ^(#1), during his minority, the state was administered by his mother, aided by experienced managers under a certain supervision by the Political Agent; married and had issue.

• Thakore Shri FATEHSINHJI GAMBHIRSINHJI Sahib, Thakore Saheb of Pethapur 1896/-, born 3rd October 1895 and succeeded in 1896 ^(#2), educated at Scott College, Sadra; married Ba Shri Manhar Kunverba Saheb, daughter of Rana Shri Harisinhji Sahib of Bhadakva in Kathiawad, and had issue.
