Shri RADHA KANTA SINHA, 17th Zamindar of Kandi before 1757/1772, he gave great service to the English in 1757 and was appointed to manage the revenue department of Mir Ja'afar (later Nawab of Bengal), he was later appointed Diwan by Lord Clive; married and had adoptive issue (his nephew). He died 1772.

Shri Dewan GANGA GOVIND SINGH, 18th Zamindar of Kandi 1772/-, he was an agent of Warren Hastings, and was able to accumulate an enormous fortune, which enabled him to establish the zamindari of Kandi at Murshidabad and Paikpara at Calcutta.
Shri PRAN KANTA SINHA, 19th Zamindar of Kandi -/1808, he held the office of Naib Diwan of Bengal; married and had issue, one son. He died 1808.
Shri Krishna Chandra Sinha (qv)
Shri KRISHNA CHANDRA SINHA, 20th Zamindar of Kandi 1808/1861, appointed Diwan in charge of settlement at Burdwan in 1803; he purchased a number of properties, including the zamindari of Bisalakshmipur; towards the end of his life, he became a sanyasi and was known as Lala Babu; married Rani Katyayani, died 1268 (Bengal style), and had issue, one son. He died in 1861 when a horse belonging to the then Maharani of Gwalior, bolted and galloped over him.

Raja PRATAP CHANDRA SINHA Bahadur, 22nd Zamindar of Kandi ca1864/1866, he contributed liberally to the founding of the Medical College Fever Hospital in Calcutta; Vice-President of the British-Indian Association; he provided valuable assistance to the British Government during the Indian Mutiny of 1857; he was granted the title of Raja Bahadur in 1854, and awarded the C.S.I.; married Rani Padmamukhi, and had issue, four sons. He died in 1866 aged 39 years.

Prof. Kumar Bikash Chandra Sinha, an eminent Indian physicist, active in the fields of nuclear physics and high energy physics, born 16th June 1945, educated at the University of Calcutta, at Cambridge University (Natural Science, 1967), at London University (Ph.D., 1970) and (D.Sc., 1981); he spent 12 years in England, teaching and researching in the Rutherford High Energy Physics Laboratory and Kings College, London; he joined the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in 1976 and was Director of the Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre; Member of the Scientific Advisory Committee to the Cabinet, Government of India 1997/1999 and Chairman of the International Radiation Physics 1997/- and the Chairman of the National Committee for International Union for Pure and Applied Physics 1998/-; Director, Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata, 1992/2009 (retired in June 2009); Chairman of the executive Committee of National Council of Science Museum, Kolkata and also a Member of the Governing Council of National Council of Science Museums; Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Birla Industrial & Technological Museum, Kolkata; recipient of a number of awards and honours, including Padma Shri in 2001, the R.D. Birla Award for Excellence in Physics in 2002 and the Padma Bhushan Award in 2010; author of over 250 papers, presently he is the Homi Bhabha Chair Professor of the Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre.

Raja BIMAL CHANDRA SINHA Bahadur, 25th Zamindar of Kandi and Paikpara -/1966, he served as Minister for Abolition of Zamindari and Public Works Department, in the first government of West Bengal after Independence; married and had issue. He died 1966.

Raja ATISH CHANDRA SINHA Bahadur, 26th Zamindar of Kandi and Paikpara 1966/2010, and a former minister and Leader of the Opposition in the Indian state of West Bengal; born 11th July 1940 in Calcutta, educated at Presidency College, Kolkata and at the Imperial College in London, specializing in Geophysics; Minister of Small Scale and Cottage Industries 1972/1977; elected to the Lok Sabha in 1984; Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly 1996/2001; Leader of the Congress legislative party in the West Bengal assembly 2001/2006; he founded the Bimal Chandra College of Law in Kandi in the memory of his father; he was an active member of Calcutta South Club; married Rani Archana Devi, and had issue, one son and one daughter. He died 4th March 2010 in Kolkata.
